Getting P3D to not CTD when LNM Started

LNM uses SimConnect but not the library which is installed in the system. It comes with a copy of the FSX SimConnect.dll for compatibility. This DLL is even used when connecting to MSFS. You can delete it and LNM will try to use the system installed SimConnect library.

Thanks Alex

I am currently flying from Dundee to Barra in MSFS with LNM on Monitor #2, MSFS on #1.

I followed your advice in another thread whereby I started LNM after MSFS & had LNM set to 'Auto Connect"

So the issue could be in P3D. LNM is working fine with MSFS.

I won't bother you again until I have P3D/LNM sorted, then I'll let you know how I did it.😀

Partial success.

I cleaned out about 10 Simconnect.Dll files from P3D & copied in the single one that was in MSFS.

I then tried a different load up sequence [P3D is on Monitor #1, 6 GiB video card, LNM is on Monitor #2, 2 GiB card]

I started the PC & Monitors #1 & #2. Then I opened LNM (as Administrator, everything is done that way),  & created a flight plan in the Pacific North West & saved it, then exported it to the P3D LNM plans folder in File Manager.

Then I ticked in LNM settings the box for "Show last Flight Plan" when LNM is opened, & "Automatically Connect to the Sim"

Next, I closed LNM & turned off Monitor #2.

I then ran Simstarter, selecting the North America scenery set.  I shut SimD. & opened P3D v5.3 HF2 & ran through Scenario Set Up, loading the PNW Flight Plan.

After 'Go', I set up the GPS/AP in the aircraft. It  had imported the flight plan so I set a desired top out altitude & departed the starting  airfield.

After settling the engines etc I put the aircraft on AP & then turned on Monitor #2.

Next I opened LNM & it showed the flight plan & position of the aircraft on the plan.

I was able to move the mouse pointer back & forth between the 2 screens without a P3D CTD occurring. (You need to left mouse click on the screen to make it the 'active screen when moving back & forth)

I tried the same sequence of events for a flight in Europe, but it CTD after LNM opened.

I primarily run Orbx scenery so I may uninstall/reinstall some Europe blocs to see if I can find the CTD cause.

Europe has more scenery loaded than North America at the moment.

Try without admin. LNM certainly does not require it.

Try if Navconnect causes the same issues. You could try install LNM on another computer. This can even be a 2GB RAM old and slow stone age notebook.

Ok

I'll look at that.

I suspect the issue may be in the  downloaded scenery/airports managed through Simstarter.

I am sectioning the sceneries in Simstarter  & currently P3D/LNM work together okay for Pacific North West, Nordic countries & New Zealand, but not yet for UK & Europe.

I am uninstalling & reinstalling UK & Europe then breaking it out into smaller clusters, eg, Scotland, Germany & so on, to try & isolate the issue.

Thanks

Well, back again.

I can fly ok with P3D & LNM working together in Simstarter designated Nordic countries, New Zealand & North America West Coast.

Scratching my head why other regions, eg, Scotland, doesn't work & I get a P3D CTD when LNM opens up, & the mouse pointer won't move back to the P3D screen, which it does cleanly when a 'good' Region, eg, Nordic, is loaded.

I can combine North America West, (NAW),  & South America in Simstarter  & it will work ok if I choose a Flight Plan in NAW, but not work if I choose an FP in South America.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Another update.

Currently P3D v5.3 HF2 & LNM are working together ok in any part of the World & the mouse pointer is moving back & forth between screens & the CTD's have disappeared.

Not sure why it now works, but I will accept it😀

Thanks for your help, Alex
