Strange pixels on clouds

Featured Replies

Sometimes my clouds are gorgeous, and sometimes they are pretty close to plain crappy. I've come to the conclusion that it depends on a combination of factors such as time of day, general illumination, view angle, proximity, size and such.

Absolutely. And also -- potentially the biggest factor -- how many clouds, and how complex the clouds, that are being rendered. I know some say the graininess appeared with release of the Xbox version, but they have been there from the start for me, but also not there, depending on conditions. It makes perfect sense; the more stuff you want to display on a screen, you have to compromise in quality somewhere. This, I believe, is just an effect of the rendering engine dynamically adjusting according to demands on the hardware.
