New aircraft profile MSFS

Featured Replies

There must be something I'm doing wrong. I want to be able to use different profiles for different aircraft in MSFS. I open "Create new aircraft module definition" in LINDA. The problem is that it doesn't show installed aircraft as described in the LINDA 4.1.0 Release Notes. There are no aircraft displayed at all. I fill in the "Module name" and the second field "Aircraft search string" but I can't complete and create.
What am I doing wrong. I have latest version of LINDA for MSFS and latest FSUIPC for MSFS

Hi Thomas

I am sorry you are experiencing issues with creating a new module. When I click New it opens the New aircraft module window and lists all the installed MSFS Default aircraft (along with any model matching aircraft installed). You should be using LINDA 4.1.3 and FSUIPC7 7.2.16.

To allow me to see what may be wrong please read and follow the Fault Diagnosis Procedure (under LINDA Support) and email me the logs.NewModule

Hi @Seat* thank you for sending the logs. Although you didn’t select Fault Diagnosis Mode (via Maintenance page) I can see several problems.

LINDA is not finding any add-on aircraft. I believe this is because you are using a non-standard installation for MSFS on N drive. MSFS should be installed in the /localcache/packages directory which should contain a Community and Offical/OneStore folder. This is where FSUIPC7 and LINDA expects to finds an add-ons.

You may wish to consider reinstalling MSFS. I appreciate this may cause disk capacity concerns. You may need to search the web for guidance on pointing / redirecting from the Community/Official directory to another location. I have done this for my model matching installation.

Hi
Thanks for the quick reply. I did select Fault Diagnosis Mode (via Maintenance page). I don't understand why it didn't work. But obviously the problem is not there. It is true that I have MSFS installed in N:/MSFS 2020. In that folder there is Community and Offical/OneStore folder. I haven't had any problems with FSUIPC. I want MSFS in this folder because it is the fastest disk I have. Is there no way to change where LINDA looks for the installation. After all, there are many people who have MSFS on its own separate disk.

OK. Please open the LINDA Console and ensure that you select DEBUG in the drop down and that GUI and LUA checkboxes are ticked. Then start LINDA, the New Module window and take a screenshot of the window. Close LINDA fully and email the FSUIPC7.log and LINDA2.log files. This will allow me to see where LINDA is searching and which, if any, add-ons it finds. All take and send me a screenshot of your N:/MSFS 2020 directory.

Out of interest how did you get MSFS to install in the non-standard location?

Hi Andrew

I think that I have the same problem I don’t see the installed aircraft any more. All my current aircraft work ok.

I have MSFS installed on my F: drive. When MSFS installed it asks you twice where to install. There is a thin file/directory select at the bottom. The first part is the flight sim location +/- 10 GB. The second is the location for all the scenery and content. Most people don’t see it.  Once I missed it myself, had to download 60+ GB twice.

During Beta testing I saw this link “how to move MSFS”

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/how-to-change-the-installation-path-of-installed-packages-inc-community-folder/471682

Having you sim on a custom location has many advantages.

Frank

Hi Frank

Thank you very much for your comment. The non-standard MSFS location causes an issue with the search process that I am working to understand and find a fix. I may ask you to do some testing for me when I have a test build ready.

Hi @Seat* and @Carliolian after a day spent redesigning how the New Aircraft Module list is generated I how have a test build that work with the standard MSFS install location. I would ask you to try this with your setups. You will need FSUIPC7 running and should start LINDA, click New, confirm list appears and is searchable. Use * for AND eg. "FlyByWire*A320". Close New Aircraft Module and LINDA windows. Email me the linda2.log file only to linda @ awginfosys.net.
