Derek D,, this is for you. SceneryTech question.

Will the update fix the cliff texture issue as they are still stretched rather than a rock texture is used? If you take off from Juneru Harbor, you can see those ugle stretch marks. I went with SceneryTech for the reason of your posts here indicated that's what SceneryTech was different from other land classes.

Hope you show up here. Bump.

I'm not familiar with the issue you are talking about (stretched cliff textures), but if you haven't downloaded the update yet there is no reason to hold back on it (it's free for existing customers). If you still see the issue after installing the update could you post a screenshot so I can better understand what you are seeing? Thanks.Derek D.

I will check with the update.

The cliffs problem is the occasional mesh inaccuracy which, as Bo pointed out, is easily seen for instance at Juneau Harbor. The new SceneryTech rock faces are really great but they don't solve the problem as landclass and mesh are two separate things. Even so, I am happy to say the update does mitigate the streaking, which is now rock colored instead of slate gray, so the oddness is less noticeable, particularly from a little ways off.

Cool. I will be installing the update tomorrow and check it out. If some smart dude can solve this for good, it will be golden.

It is still the same at Juneru Harbor.

Either the mesh AND/OR the harbor shoreline is inaccurate. You can download more accurate freeware mesh from FSProject. However, I suspect it's the inaccurate shoreline thats causing the problem. You could use FSX KML to fix the shoreline and then the cliff will disappear.See my sig below for info on FSX KML.

Since this isn't a landclass issue my hands are tied, but Matthew has given good advice above.

OK. Just check with google earth. There is no cliff there. As a matter of fact, the side of the hill is not that steep either, not even 80 degree. Is this still mesh issue or a shoreline issue? I am currently using FSGenesis mesh. If I get FSProject, how is it going to affect my current installation?

Hi there,it's an issue with the inaccurate shoreline data. Adding a more detailed terrain mesh will probably make it worse because the cliffs may end up being more pronounced. At some point there will be an FSX version for our Glacier Bay freeware project (which includes Juneau) but it'll be a couple of months. Also, Allen and I are working on Ultimate Terrain for Alaska (payware) that will include corrected shorelines, among lots of other features.Cheers, Holger

Excellent. Can't wait. I've been to Alaska and loved it. I'm planning to go back there in the third week of July. That's when the bears will come down the river and have their salmon feast. BTW, are you sure the problem is with shoreline? It looks like the location of that road alone side the river is correct though.

>BTW, are you sure the problem is with shoreline? It>looks like the location of that road alone side the river is>correct though.Probably both the road and shoreline are incorrectly placed.
