March 19, 20224 yr Hi I am finding that I am being given clearances to higher altitudes in the SIDs than is allowed according to the charts. I have got the "ignore altitude restrictions" box unchecked. Am I doing something wrong? I am on Beta m and everything else working well for me. Thanks
March 19, 20224 yr Commercial Member In your clearance, you will normally be told to "climb via the xxxx Departure to 12000 feet". This means, climb to 12,000 but adhere to all restrictions in the SID. Dave

March 19, 20224 yr Commercial Member Yes, although sometimes ATC lets it slide, you will usually get a mild lashing.
March 19, 20224 yr on this note, I notice that in the initial clearance, atc will give a climb to <altitude> that doesn't match the published SID top altitude. They will say something like, "climb to FL210 via the SID..." But, the top altitude on the SID is only 8000. (just an example) Is the clearance stop altitudes programmed with the charts in mind? Or, is it programmer discretion? Love this program Scott
March 20, 20224 yr Commercial Member That is correct. After you pass the last restriction in the SID, you are then cleared to whatever altitude ATC has given you.

That doesn't really answer what I'm trying to ask. My question is in regards to the initial atc clearance given and the stop altitude atc clears me to. This altitude is always different than the published stop altitude. Can this be improved upon? Or, is there a limitation that prevents using the charts in the programming? I appreciate the help
March 20, 20224 yr Commercial Member There is no "stop" altitude in the SID. There are altitude restrictions, many of which are at or below, but many are above, at or above, etc. ATC is clearing you to an altitude you can climb to after you finish adhering to all the restrictions. You should then get further clearance toward your cruise altitude after you approach the assigned altitude. Dave
