With clean install + SP1 can I copy my backups to new FS?

Don't know for sure, but it doesn't sound like a good idea... There is a big change you will overwrite a new or changed file with an older one: you never know what kind of trouble that may get you in.

How are we supposed to know which add ons are compatible with SP1?I read where no files were chaged just how they laoded or something to that effect.Ron

Three of the default models and their textures have been updated, so you don't want to overwrite the newer versions! ;)

Bill,Thanks as always for your help.I was going to move the new folders to a different drive for backups and copy my backup scenery,gauges,effects,add on scenery folder into the updated fs.I don't think I should do this with the texture folder from what I have been reading.Is that OK to do?Thanks again,Ron

Very simply put: do NOT copy back any default FSX files, no matter what folder they come from... ;)

Thank you and understood.I wish someone such as you would post instructions for all of us non computer geeks who have installed a lot of add ons such as FSgenesis mesh,Adam Mills textures etc.I guess we just have to go back and reinstall,right?I have all my xclass and FS genesis LC in my add on scenery so that should be easy.Thanks again for the help.Ron

Hello,This is what I have done : effects, Gauges, AiAircrafts (see impact on fsx.cfg) , Rotorcrafts, AITraffic, sound, and finally all my addon scenery. ALL seams OK !BTW I did NOT know that 3 default aircrafts have changed ..... these are??Thanks in advance.

That seems to make sense since none is related to default textures.But Bill says No old default folders and I follow his posts and heed his advice.Ron
