Freesync and Nvidia Card

I have a monitor that does offer Freesync but I am using a GTX card. I heard that some monitors can "sync" up with a GTX card? I can select Gsync in the control panel, so do I turn Freesync on or not?

Your not going to break anything by "trying" it. If it doesn't work, just turn it off.

I have done it both ways an really could not tell a difference but I did not know if I was missing anything.
