May 22, 200719 yr I installed SP1 and noticed an improvement in my FPS by over 75% (from 15FPS to 25)however the scenery textures are not as crisp as usual and there is an ENORMOUS hole with no trees at Princess Juliana (TNCM). Ths is with the autogen slider on the highest setting. This is not the only place where the supposedly Ultra Dense autogen was sparser than the Pre-SP1 Very Dense autogen (the 2nd best setting). Until this is fixed I think I am going to get rid of the SP1.:( Think VERY CAREFULLY before you install the SP1. If you do install it make sure you have backed up most if not all of flight sim files (I copied all of the FSX files to another location on my PC so I wouldn't have to spend 2 1/2 hours uninstalling the ruined version of FSX and installing it again). That will save a lot of time but it will take about 45-60 minutes to copy all of the files. This is nothing against Microsoft, from what I hear, for some people SP1 completely trasforms the FSX expierience (in a good way:-)).
May 23, 200719 yr I apologize if I'm misreading your comments, but installing SP1 on top of FSX is not recommended. A clean install of FSX does take longer but will surely leave fewer legacy problems. I removed FSX and re-installed, then added the patch. So far no SP1 issues. Bob... Bob Prince

No need to de- and re-install FS X all over again. De-installing SP1 only takes a minute or two... ;) (I did that yesterday because I wanted to compare something between pre- and post-SP1. De-installing SP1 AND reinstalling it again after my short test, only took a few minutes all in all!)
May 23, 200719 yr Author Before I installed SP1 I completely uninstalled and then reinstlled FSX. "You can also simply de-install the SP1 patch... No need to de- and re-install FS X all over again. May 23, 200719 yr I've read accounts from several people who said that they saw no difference between their installation of SP1 over their regular install of FSX, and when they removed it all and installed FSX clean and then SP1.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
May 23, 200719 yr Hello All, I tried it both ways, and noticed NO difference in the FPS or anything else in either way. On MY machine, the increase was almost the same -- and all in all I am thrilled with SP1.Best to allClay
May 23, 200719 yr Author I may just be missing something but I think it is odd that SP1 reacts different ways on different computers...some people love it and others hate it, go figure.
