April 12, 20224 yr Currently in live weather with MSFS does humidity affect aircraft performance? Note I am aware of the icing. What about hot temps & humidity? Can anyone specify as far as current live weather in the sim and the way the sim injects weather what we are currently missing as far as physics go according to real world aviation? Just looking for knowledge. And why the heck haven't they shifted more focus on the weather engine 😩 Thanks & Happy Landings, JW
April 12, 20224 yr Very difficult to answer.... There were bugs, suposedly fixed with SU7 if I'm not mistaken, regading a wrong effect of density. Actually when going accross clouds the aircraft experienced a higher density, and their TAS / IAS were affected. There's also what is called density altitude, and just as with the effect of high / low temperatures on geopotential height, that was announced as one of the features in MFS weather, I couldn't find evidence of it being modelled. Maybe the new API will turn possible the access to the various weather-related variables so that we can check it. In Dev mode you can display various values on-the-fly, including air density, but I couldn't tell the difference when I manually edited the weather and set a dense cloud layer near the ground. Also no way to set T / Td in the weather menu... April 12, 20224 yr Author Rgr on the last. Appreciate the response and your current intel. I am not up to speed with some of the digital bells and whistles yet in the sim as far as dev mode etc. But so far by the seat of the pants flying in the sim I feel like I have felt the affects of density altitude in the caravan at higher altitudes. But haven't really tested much on very hot humid days at lower altitudes. Just wondered if someone has noticed much of a performance degradation at lower altitudes on hot humid days since the seasons are changing. Happy Landings, JW
