May 24, 200719 yr Good evening everyone. I am looking to install some AC and Helis that I have in FS9 into FSX. I have read that the VC will not work unless something is done first in one of the entries somewhere. What is it that needs to be done? Also, if I have any AC that are in FS9 now, do I have to rerun the installers for the products and direct it to FSX, then do something else? As you can see, I am pretty lost how things work with FSX's inter workings.I am assuming that current AC and Helis.. I can just copy and paste the files, but I thought I'd better ask first before botching up FSX. Any helps and tips are greatly appreciated folks. :) I can't wait until I am up to speed like I am in FS9. The only thing I dislike with a new release.
May 24, 200719 yr I have successfully installed a few FS9 AC into FSX. I've found that it's not much different from installing AC into FS9. If the AC comes with an installer then I try to install it to an isolated directory and then copy the files over manually. I've found that most FSX AC have their guages located in the Panel folder so when I copy files over I put the guages there rather than clutter up the FSX Guages folder.I suggest that you experiment with one of the FS9 default AC which should show you how easy it is.Also, you'll have to look out for guages which were made prior to about late 2004. I've found that most of these are incompatible with the FSX file structure.Good luck.Mike. Mike Beckwith
May 24, 200719 yr Author Mike. thanks for your reply. So the VC works without any tampering then? I thought I heard of this being an issue. I will start with some installs hopefully over the weekend if I can get caught up here on my work load. Thanks again :)
May 24, 200719 yr The only problem I've had with FS9 VCs was with regard to their quality compared to FSX VCs which a much better looking.Mike. Mike Beckwith
May 24, 200719 yr BTW Jeff, I forgot to mention that you'll have to take a pic of you AC and save it as thumbnail.jpg in your Texture folder. This is used to display the AC in the AC Select dialogue.Mike. Mike Beckwith
