Hi, curious to know if anyone with a racing wheel ever tried to use it for a tiller control on an airliner.

It should work. Whether it's realistic is another question. It's certainly more realistic than to steer a big passenger airliner with rudder pedals. I built myself a tiller from 3d printed parts which works very well for me.
