P2A Freezing (Partially) When Calculating Vectors

Featured Replies

Good evening Dave,

I know a few other users have posted that they have had P2A freeze on them when being handed off to approach and that is typically when the calculations are being done for the vectors. I have not had this happen previously but did today using the latest version.

In my instance, I was connected with Center as there is no tower, as I approached TOD P2A froze, but not completely. I could not interact with ATC, or manipulate the program in any manner however the ATC Chatter continued to play.

If I changed frequencies in the virtual cockpit, the ATC chatter would actually change to the appropriate controller so P2A is seeing that I made a change, but the GUI itself was locked up and would not show the frequency change, or accept / give any further voice input / output.

I know in the past it was mentioned as possible whether updates being too frequent (mine are set at 5 minutes and have been since day 1), or potentially CPU utilization, CPU utilization was around 24 or so percent as it normally is.

Memory usage for P2A was around 3.2GB.

System Specs:

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (Liquid Cooled)
128GB Dual Channel XMP @ 3600Mhz
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 24Gb GDDR6X
2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD
1,000W PSU

I don't believe it was caused by any outside factors, again the chatter kept playing and would switch to the appropriate chatter controller if I changed the frequency in my cockpit but the GUI and voice input/output was locked up.

Let me know if you want me to e-mail you the log.

Thanks.

Thanks Dave,

It happened again this evening heading into CYTS, hit TOD where it would calculate and locked up. The log files are a little long as I was doing multi hops. Sent you the logs from both instances.

This issue seems to be getting more frequent for me  unfortunately. It's always a gamble as to whether P2A will work until the end of the flight or not when I fly a new route.

I have certain routes where (for me) this is reproducible 100% of the time, but Dave wasn't able to reproduce. Other routes where things work fine as they're supposed to. Not sure what could be causing this.

Hey @Dave-Pilot2ATC

Just checking if you found anything from the logs I sent?

Just had another freeze-up, I grabbed a dump of the process this time as well, let me know if you want the logs / dump.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I could not duplicate the problem after several flights.

One thought I had was it's possible that a warning message or other dialog box is popping up, hidden behind something, and that is causing a freeze with no errors in the log.

If you have the logs / dump from the flight in question, please send them and I'll have a look.

Thanks Dave,

I've just e-mailed you the log as well as the FTP info for the dmp file (3GB).

I don't believe there is any other window / pop up but I will do a thorough check during the next occurrence.

Thanks.

I just emailed Dave. I had the freeze on 2 consecutive flights (the ones where I can reproduce this 100% of the time). Same deal. Nothing out of place in the logs. No error messages or errant windows in the background. Just a single P2A window.

The only thing I can think of is that it's some Config setting difference that is not allowing me to duplicate the problem.

Please email me the AppConfig.xml file, located at:

c:\users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200\Settings\AppConfig.xml
where <UserName> is your PC user name.

I actually made a post about it on the MSFS forums as well to see if others who are not on here were having issues. Looks like there are a couple more. I'll send you my config as well Dave.
