No, not at all! Thor does not require such a primitive contrivance to project the hammer. And don't believe that Marvel movie nonsense either. Thor's hammer is actually a divine lightning weapon and is never thrown. Why bother throwing when you can beam high energy particles at all that is evil.... its also useful for DIY around the home, welding, stripping paint, that sort of thing.
