While this is likely a minor detail to most, I think control wheel movement in sync with AP commands adds a small degree of realism to flight simming for either P3D, FS 2000 or X-plane. I've found this feature most prevalent in the A2A fleet and the default X-plane aircraft. 

Can someone explain hgow this feature is accomplished? I imagine it is accomplished at the developers modelling stage but just curious if there might be a config setting.

It's a by-product of the panel code making inputs via changes to the flight control positions.  In some panels, the flight control animations are frozen/disconnected from the axes during AP operation.  Also, in cases where inputs are made via trim inputs (as often is the case in the real world), then a change in the yoke position wouldn't occur.  In jets, this is common, as many autopilots use stabilizer trim for pitch control instead of elevator inputs.
