Scenery Library Loading Issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help. I upgraded to Win11 recently and since then I can't load the MSFS Scenery Library. It connects to the sim fine and aircraft shows on the map etc, but MSFS is not showing in the Load Scenery Library window, it is just showing xplane which I have never owned.

Thanks.

Hello Abennet,

I have the exact same issue, but caused by something else. I have two Windows 10 computers. One of the is running MSFS2020 and also Little Navconnect.  The other computer is running Little Navmap.  Little Navmap connects to the simulator just fine, using Little Navconnect. However, it is not possible to update the Scenery Library. It assumes there is X-plane somewhere to which it obviously cannot find a path. The drop-down menu does not give me another sim option either.

Funny thing is , that Little Navmap,, when running on my main computer shows the correct simulator ( MSFS2020 ) and also updates fine. So in my case it must have something to do with the network and/or Little Navconnect.  I hope Alex can help us here.

Seems LNM cannot access MSFS files and therefore not detect it.

Maybe folder permission issues? LNM installed in folder C:\Programs or another restricted folder?

You can send me your log file and I can have a look at it.

You have to load the scenery library database on the flying computer and copy it to the remote.

See here: https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/2.6/en/NETWORK.html

Thank you so much Alex. I thought of this as a possible solution, but then copied over the entire LNM-content to the remote computer which did not work. I'll try again. 😉

Still it would be great if  LNM on the remote computer immediately shows your correct connected sim. 👍

Well, next LNM will show no sim at all if no simulator found. This avoids the confusing X-Plane display.
LNM on the remote does not know about the simulator on the flying computer. It's just a network connection.

I think i saw this already in the beta version 2.7.10

In the meantime I tried to copy the msfs.sqlite file over from the 'flying computer' to the LNM- database on my remote computer as per your instructions.. Still no luck however. . Oh well,  i guess i have to use Navigraph for now.

Thanks,

Both LNM and MSFS are on a sim dedicated D drive.

Have sent the log file via email.

Best,

Close LNM on both sides before copying. And then copy "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ABarthel\little_navmap_db\little_navmap_msfs.sqlite" (if using Windows) to the remote computer in the same folder (if using Windows again). This is normally reliable.

It seems to be working after all. I was looking at the numbers of imported data, which will all stay at zero of course. Nothing is being downloaded: it is already there. I put it there myself, by means of the transfer of the msfs.sqlite file.

So, all is well. Still i may continue to use Navigraph, as the approach charts, and other airport data are invaluable during my flight planning, and while executing the flight. Navigraph and MSFS2020 will join forces within LNM. 😉👍

I forgot to mention that there is no loading needed after  copying the database. The file is ready-to-go after copying.

Hello @albar965I have some airfields in MSFS which are not outlined in yellow despite the update of the scenery library, here e.g. LCLK Larnaca International on Cyprus. But I have this in my community folder. After every new airfield I buy or after every world update I bring LVM up to date.

Probably this: https://albar965.github.io/littlenavmap-faq.html#no-airport-msfs

Quote

A MSFS add-on does not show up after reloading the scenery library in Little Navmap

Encrypted add-on airports in MSFS cannot be read by Little Navmap.

The add-on is locked down with a DRM (Digital Restriction Management) scheme if you find a file BGL.fsarchive in the add-on folders. Little Navmap will not show a new airport or only the stock airport if an add-on replaces a stock one.

Buy add-ons directly from developers instead of the Microsoft market which enforces encryption. Alternatively you can also use and support freeware scenery.

So there is no fix right?
