  1. The glory days of Active Sky for the weather injection and SkyForce 3D for the cloud textures in P3D were great. It's such a shame that the clouds in MSFS are still so bad. I really wish there was something similar to SkyForce that could completely change the way the clouds are rendered. I really dislike the look of them.
  2. Have to say so far really enjoying it, the clouds seem to look better than in MSFS native Live Weather. Haven't noticed any annoying transitions. Only thing is, like someone else posted, I haven't seen any rain so far, even when indicated. Will try to do some more testing in that regard.
  3. It is just the one setting that seems to be there with any time interval? Download Interval under General Options, is this correct? so not sure what you mean by a download of 15 mins and configured for 30 mins?
  4. If we want to use fully AS for both rendering of the weather and the air effects etc. What setting do we put for the weather in the sim?
  5. @Damian Clark Do you know how we update the Active Sky AIRAC? I cant seem to locate it on either the Navigraph Hub nor the Navigraph FMS Data Manager
  6. It shouldn't do this though, it should draw at the calculated speeds. It also doesn't calculate the speeds at later waypoints correctly anyway, but it would still be more accurate if it did this.
  7. It is a decent aircraft for freeware. But the way it handles LNAV and VNAV is far from good, and the flight model is very jerky and not smooth, typical MSFS flight model basically. But for freeware there can be no complaints. Hopefully the 777 will be out soon. It is sad to think that the next sim is not far from release and there still isn't a single good long hauler.
  8. Hopefully the screenshots form the Active Sky website are from a different/old build. These shots are both great examples of the sim clouds looking terrible but yet HiFi seem to have chosen them to showcase their product....
  9. Was a huge fan of Active Sky in P3D. I just hope that it is the end of clouds like these. All on ULTRA settings and just look horrible, the wrong colour, and unrealistic. But I imagine this is a sim thing and nothing can be done. I miss the old days of Active Sky for the injection and Rex Sky Force for the actual depiction. Looked so much better than MSFS.
  10. The video looks like it has the same poor quality clouds to me sadly.
  11. Anyone know how I can get anything Fenix related to show in the volume mixer, I mean specifically the gqlgateway? It just doesn't appear there at all ever so still getting no sounds. It's really disappointing as having seen streams and videos with these sounds I feel they really add to the immersion. I opened a ticket but no luck.
  12. Talk to me about average descent rate. Seem odd that it would be the same for VFR and IFR, generally an airliner has a very different fpm descent rate than an GA prop for example...
  13. Sorry, I can't find the info, what is the difference between FPS Sensitivity and FPS Tolerance?
  14. OK that is good to know, I thought that it needed a restart in between the two powershell commands, it is good that it works without doing that. This was why I was doing the first command every time I shut my PC down, in essence I was just restarting between the two commands, though that restart took all night whilst my PC was off... So now I don't have to worry about it, just need to run those two commands whenever I start the PC. Of course, it is great that this works, but we really shouldn't have to keep doing it. I am glad I found a fix that seem to be working for everybody. But it is such a shame that we have to do it. I have no idea how this started or anything, and I can get no support from microsoft online, just the xbox will not let me log whatever I do (apart from doing this fudge fix).
  15. Are you restarting the pc between the two powershell commands?
  16. Ha, thanks, I wish I could pop this on an avsim bio...
  17. What I do for the time being is every time I shut down the PC I remove Gaming Services with Powershell (Admin), then when I turn on PC, I open Xbox App and it reinstalls Gaming Services, then Flight Sim works perfectly. I just need to remember always to remove Gaming Services. Instructions for doing this are below. Note that where it says 'Restart System' I don't restart (well I suppose I do), but I just delete Gaming Services before shutting down, it should make sense. If you forget to remove Gaming Services, you will have to restart the PC if you then turn on PC and want to use MSFS, i.e. you would need to remove Gaming Services, Restart, open Xbox App etc... This has worked 100% of the time for me. I suppose we have all got used to checking for it saying Syncing Data in the launch splash screen of MSFS where it cycles through, Launching Game, Checking for Updates, etc. If it says Syncing Data, all will be good. Instructions Reinstall Gaming Services Right-click on the Windows Start button and select PowerShell (Admin). In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter: get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers In the same window, type the following command and press Enter: start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN Restart your system. Start the Xbox application. You should see a Green or Blue banner with the following message: "This app needs an extra component. Gaming Services are needed for playing some games. Administrator approval is required. Install" Select Install to reinstall Gaming Services. After the installation is complete, you should be able to install and start games again.
  18. This is exactly what I am getting. So frustrating.
  19. IFR are a set of regulations governing aircraft operations used when meteorological conditions mean that flying by visual references would be unsafe, it has nothing to do with a setting in a computer simulator that controls the distance at which detailed terrain is rendered. TLOD does. But anyway, it doesn’t matter, as I said, do you what you think best. You have done amazing things with this application, and we all are incredibly grateful, so you can name the various settings and options whatever you desire. As long as there is a clear definition, somehwere easily accessible, (maybe a pdf bundled with the installer?) of what each setting does, all will be well. As I previously mentioned, I work with documents and thus have an eye for detail, so I would be more than willing to have a look through any such user guide/manual, and make sure it all checks out, should that be helpful.
  20. Respectfully I couldn't disagree more. 'TLOD Min on Ground', in my opinion, describes infinitely more clearly what the app will do when that box is ticked than 'IFR'. As a lawyer who spends most of the day interpreting the meaning of words, I find things are much more successful when they 'do what they say on the tin'. TLOD Min on Ground tells one that on the ground the app will use the set TLOD Min, whereas 'IFR' has absolutely nothing to do with TLOD in the slightest. It goes without saying, of course, that I respect, as the developer of the app, Reset's prerogative to use whichever nomenclature he so desires.
  21. Awesome as always. Just one little opinion of mine, I’m not massively keen on the nomenclature of IFR/VFR mode. I’ve always preferred settings to be named after what they actually do. I think it would be better if you could come up with a short, snappy name for the setting that actually describes what the application is targeting rather than naming the setting after a type of flight rule. I think it adds more confusion than simplicity. Certainly not a complaint, just a personal opinion.
  22. Just wondering why here, I am getting 100 TLOD when I am not reaching the target FPS, so the extra TLOD given by the TLOD + should not be added surely? I should just be getting TLOD Min?
  23. Thanks, Interesting in expert mode, I found that setting TLOD Max to 600 allowed me to reach that figure without any usercfg modifications, so using expert mode, what is the purpose of setting 6.000000 in the usercfg? Also, if you are setting TLOD in the usercfg, why do you not set OLOD to 1000 in there when using expert mode, i.e. why do one and not the other?
