July 6, 20223 yr I've noticed this for a while and so I thought to ask. It might not be a bug, but, would like to know if this is normal. I'm happily flying along and the approach controller will clear me for the approach. After a few minutes, the approach controller will issue me vectors to the ILS and then another clearance to approach. Thanks Scott
July 6, 20223 yr Commercial Member If you are cleared for an approach with a manual termination at the end of the transition, then when you hit that final point in the transition, you might get a vector to fly to final. If that happens, then the controller may give you another clearance to fly the final approach. If that's not the case, please email the log file for a flight where this happens to [email protected] and I'll have a look. P2A Log files are located in: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200\Logs where <UserName> is your PC user name. Portions of the path may be hidden by default, so be sure Windows Explorer has Show Hidden Items checked in the View tab. A new one is created each time you start Pilot2ATC, and is closed when you shut it down. So if you take the most recent one after you have the error and after you shut down P2A, you should have the correct one. Dave Edited July 6, 20223 yr by Dave-Pilot2ATC
July 7, 20223 yr Author That is exactly what happened, but, I would think if I'm cleared for the approach, then I'm cleared for the approach. It Is a bit confusing to get cleared and then not be cleared in few minutes, just to be cleared again. I'll be okay your program is still awesome!
July 9, 20223 yr What is a manual termination? I ran into similar case today. Filed for the LARKK1 to KLAS and ILS 26L with PRINO transition. I was cleared for the approach with the PRINO transition but sudenly P2A vectored me towards the ILS way before PRINO. At which point I couldn’t set the plane for a controlled approach and “landed”. 🤣 I see how this could happen in real life due to traffic but it was confusing. July 10, 20223 yr Commercial Member A manual termination is a point in a procedure where you can expect to get vectors to the next point. This is most common on a SID but can happen at the end of a STAR or end of an approach transition. In your case, you are getting vectors because, even with the transition, the angle of intercept to final is very steep. Try the BERBN transition and you will likely not get vectors. Be sure the Randomize Vectors option in Config is turned off also. Dave
July 11, 20223 yr Thanks Dave. Today I tried the BERBN transition a couple of times and it went smoother. But maybe because I was expecting the vectors this time since I checked in advance the approach route P2A had calculated by pressing the APPR button. I exclusively fly in VR so after filing I never look at the P2A screen again. The second time P2A kept giving small vector adjustments towards the ILS. It seems ATC is over-controlling, considering there are defined waypoints in the approach chart already. But I’m not a pilot and have not point of reference. I noticed another possible bug in public beta 4. During handoff from ground to tower, ground doesn’t say my callsign. It simply says “contact tower at xxx” X-Plane 12 (VR only) - HP Reverb G2 - i5 13600k - ASUS TUF RTX 4090 24GB - ASUS TUF Z790-Plus - Corsair Hydro H115i - Corsair 16GB (2 X 8GB) DDR4 4000 (PC4-32000) C18 1.35V - Samsung 860 EVO SSD 500GB - Windows 11 Pro
