June 16, 200718 yr Hello. I am in the process of flying a IFR flight from CYYC (Calgary) to Swift Current. I departed YYC and flew to the YYC VOR/DME where i picked up V304 on the 078 radial from the VOR. I have now gone appox 43nm east and am coming up on the HUSAR intersection. Here is where i'm coming into a bit of confusion. I have the NAV1 radio set to YYC, the NAV2 to the YEA VOR (the other end of V304) and have both omni bearing selectors set properly, and they both show me that I am right on course. However...when i pull up the GPS it shows me as being appox 4nm off track to the south(I am appox 43nm from the YYC VOR behind me, and 100nm from the YEA VOR in front of me). I'm just curious if this is an error in game design, a normal error incurred in flying between VOR, or what. Keeping in mind that I know the dials are properly set and the needles are dead center. Thanks for any input.
June 16, 200718 yr It looks to me like the course from YYC is 073, not 078?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/173837.jpgscott s..
June 16, 200718 yr Author Moderator Your "problem" is probably related to the way the GPS displays at different "sizes." I've noticed that the smaller the display, the more inaccurate the display is. I've found that the GPS display is most accurate at it's native size of 500x366 pixels. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
