Help, can't load flight while online but can offline

Featured Replies

Hello All,

A couple days ago, after finishing a flight, I tried to load another flight but the loading screen hung at around 75%.  No matter what I did, I could not load a flight.  I eventually went to the options page and switched to offline and I was able to load flights, but I am missing the features of on-line flights.  Does anyone have any advice?  I can surf the internet fine on the computer, so I know I am connected.  I tried turning off different online features but still could only load a flight if I switched the Data mode to offline.  Any help would be appreciated!

Did you try logging out of the Xbox app and logging in again? Did you go to Microsoft Store to check if there are any updates for gaming services?

Hi.  thanks for responding.  I signed out, restarted and signed in.  No luck. Everything is up to date.

Still trying to find a fix...

Did you use the Google maps mod? If so check your hosts file.

Hi, Thanks again, but I don't use the google map mod.  What I find bizarre is that this happened Monday evening and I flew one flight just fine, went back to the main screen to set up a different flight and it wouldn't load.  If I switch to on-line in the home screen if shows that I am connected to the East Coast server with a 23MS lag.  So it would seem to be connected to the server alright.  So unusual.

I reset my router just to see if that could have been it, but nope,  Still wont load a flight in on-line mode.

I had a similar issue where loading the game the progress bar would go 100% and hang, but if I disconnected by ethernet cable it would continue and load.  I was having other issues which may be unrelated - youtube videos were horrible quality despite having fast dl and upload speeds.

I would make sure you don't have any updates in MS Store for gaming, and any updates within the sim pending.

But for me, turns out my network card wasn't handling IPv6 correctly with what my ISP was doing with an IPv6 rollout.  You can turn off IPv6 or disable the checksum for IPv6 and leave IPv6 on.  For whatever reason, both issues for were resolved since then.  I think I had to disconnect the first time to get the game to load, but then after that it was fine.

Could be hanging when trying to load live traffic or live weather.  Try turning those off.

I found a solution after pouring through the official MSFS forums.  I deleted the contents of the "C:\Users\jodyp\AppData\Local\FlightSimulator" folder and was able to fly online again!

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

Problem solved.
