Black screen on launch

Featured Replies

Suddenly, I am getting the Black Screen on Launch issue in MSFS. I was flying, quit MSFS because I wanted to restart my flight fresh, then when trying to launch MSFS I get the Black Screen on Launch. Ugh, this sim sometimes tries my patience. For no reason this started. I have since rebooted of course, with no luck. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it server related? Something else?

I was just about to post on this topic.  I get black screens too but after about 10 mins after starting MSFS on PC steam.

My engines are running but I loose what appears to be all electrics.

Thanks.

Well, I just figured it out in my case. It was due to my audio software. I had made a change, and that is what caused it on my end. Took some digging on the MSFS forums to figure it out though. Hopefully someone can help figure out your issue.

Hmmm...can you please go a little more in-depth or provide a link?  Thank you!

Here is the link to the thread on the MSFS forum. Lots of reading involved. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/black-screen-when-starting-installing-re-installing-msfs-2020/366628

As to my fix, I use a Buttkicker device with my audio setup, which uses a piece of software called Voicemeeter. I had recently unplugged my PC from the monitor, so when I plugged it back in, my selected audio source defaulted to the monitor, and not my Voicemeeter app. When I switched it, I selected the wrong setting in Voicemeeter which was causing my Black Screen on Launch issue. The reason I figured this out is because after digging deep into that thread I linked, I saw other users that had said their black screen was related to their audio software. I hope that helps you out some.

Thanks for insight.  I'll give it a go.  Happy flying!
