When you fly into an area of the world you are not familiar with you see various poi. But, if you are not familiar with the city or country. I have no idea what I'm looking at or its significance. Can someone give me any idea on how to approach this? Yes, I see the names of the poi.

I take a look at a Google map of the city/area. If there is a structure of particular interest I Google that for further background.

Personally, I do not like POIs. I'd like to see a way of turning them on/off with a button press.
