Loading Simbrief Flightplan fails

Featured Replies

Hi Alex,

Using the latest beta version of Little Navmap, I am trying to download a generated flight plan from Simbrief, but every time I do so, I receive the following error:

Error: Error transferring https://www.simbrief.com/api/xml.fetcher.php?username=xxxxxxx - server replied: Bad Request (302)

Can you inform me about what I am doing wrong, please?

Thanks a lot for this great product.
Best regards,

Hans van Wijhe

No problems here. Did you log into SimBrief in your brower and generate a flight? You get this bad request error if there is not flight on SimBrief.

Alex

Yes, I did. Opened Simbrief in my browser, signed in and generated a flight, then hit the "open in SImbrief" option in LittleNavmap.

I'm afraid I have no idea what can cause this if the plan is generated. The function is normally very tolerant. I can log in, generate a plan, close the browser on the Linux notebook and download it from another Windows computer.

The weird thing is that I can export a flight plan to SImbrief. I will try to dive deeper into this matter and see if I can come up with a resolution.

Later:

I tried to import a Simbrief flight plan on a second computer, after having installed the latest beta version, with the same negative result.

Is your SimBrief alias correct or does it contain any special characters or spaces? I have to check what happens in this case.
The alias should be the same as the login name.

I tried with both my alphanumeric alias as well as my numeric ID. No luck with either.

But my Simbrief login is via Navigraph, using my email address. Could that be the culprit?

It is getting weirder and weirder. When I try to import a Simbrief flight plan using my Simbrief ID or my Simbrief alias, I do get the error mentioned in my initial message. However, when I use an old alias to import a Simbrief flight plan, all goes well. The generated Simbrief flight plan is being imported and I can use it in LittleNavmap. This old alias I used before Simbrief was acquired by Navigraph.

Alex, have you got an idea why I cannot use my current ID or alias to import flight plans?

Kind regards,
Hans van WIjhe

Really strange. Does the id contain any special characters like space, exclamation marks, slashes, quotes, whatever?

No, just numeric digits. I can send it to you in a private message so you can see for yourself, if you wish.

This should not cause any issues. I'm at a loss with this one.

To all: Anybody else having this problem?

The problem seems to be, as far as I can see it, the fact that I login to Simbrief via my Navigraph sign in. Unfortunately this is the only way one can sign in when having a Navigraph and Simbrief subscription. I guess I am not the only one who ran into this issue.

Hans van WIjhe

I do the same. 🤷‍♂️

The function is very simple. As soon as your flight plan on SimBrief is created it can be downloaded simply using a web address in their web interface and your username. This is public to everyone who knows your username and can be accessed without login or password.

https://www.simbrief.com/api/xml.fetcher.php?username=LOGINNAME
https://www.simbrief.com/api/xml.fetcher.php?userid=99999

You can try it yourself using the above links and inserting your login name or user id.
The returned XML text looks like

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<OFP>
  <fetch>
    <userid>...
... Cut off

Let me know which one is working for you. LNM takes the username. I can add another option using the numeric id if this helps.

The one with the numeric userid worked fine for me, as did the one with the username. Makes me wonder why this didn't work in LNM and why the very old username worked. <scratching head>
Perhaps I should uninstall LNM completely and try again. And yes, it may be a good idea to add an option for numeric id's as well.

I doubt this will help.

Will certainly do.

Can you do me a favor? Start LNM, try one of the failing downloads from SimBrief and then send me the log file (find this in Tools menu) to https://albar965.github.io/contact.html

Do not attach this here since it contains your username.
