June 27, 200718 yr Hi there.here i am again after a few months of washout ;-)i meantime SP1 has came out and now i'm planning to do a fresh FSX install after a complete disk format.can anyone please tell me which are best settings for a performance boost on my outdated machine?i think i need a tweaked FSX.cfg, isn't it? is this enough?thanks a lot in advanceLuigi ;-)
June 29, 200718 yr Hi Luigi,Given the state of knowledge at this point, I'd suggest you start out with a virgin fsx.cfg and fly a bit before making any changes at all. Then look at the Scenery settings that FSX has chosen for you and start making adjustments there first (certainly before tinkering with the cfg file!)I've got a P4-2.8 and find that capping fps at 20 and turning off traffic and autogen allows me to select large scenery radius and 2m textures for best visual effect and still have good performance.Scenery density to dense is also OK. BTW, you can save settings (and reload) by going into Options Settings Save (and Load). This way you can have a few different combinations and switch between them. Bert
June 30, 200718 yr tank you Berttwo more questions:will i need SP1 also? browsing around forums i can read different opinions on itdo i also need those modified textures (trees-treex and so on)? or perhaps their use is unrelevant?thank you very muchLuigi ;-)
June 30, 200718 yr Things like TreeX and others that reduce the size of textures are always useful for a little more boost. I think a lot of the more hardcore pre SP1 tweaks are not valid anymore though.
