I don't have very strong opinions about it, I just wanted to give REX a try to see if I could get more variation. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
October 5, 20223 yr Author I’ll just add a couple of cents worth of my observations as I’ve been flying a bit more with WF. A relatively big advantage with it is that in northern latitude places there will not be perpetual winter, e.g. Juneau, Bella Coola. Having just completed a flight between these places, I found the weather depiction quite convincing. However, the transitions are still an immersion breaker, as well as causing a significant fps drop for several seconds. As I came closer to CYBD the weather suddenly transitioned to clear skies, then a few minutes later back to low altitude overcast with rain. The good thing in all this is that it’s extremely easy to switch between WF and default live weather at any time. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
October 5, 20223 yr Author I found another REX limitation. Was hunting for strong winds, and found that ENSF (Stryn, Norway) was reporting this: ENSF 052020Z 22038KT In the sim, that's pretty much what I got. Unfortunately with REX I got 268/1. It's using the nearest METAR at ENSD, 19nm away: ENSD 052020Z 22010KT Probably REX is using some sort of interpolation, which in this case doesn't work that well. To put it mildly. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Thanks, @Cpt_Piett. I wished people will report that to REX. I provided the same findings with pictures illustrating the issue, but unfortunately, no reply. Presently, there are two major issues, in my opinion, one is stutters while retrieving wx and the second one is this issue with incorrect actual wind velocity vs what SA/METAR is reporting. Not good or accurate. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

October 6, 20223 yr The FPS issue is known by REX but it seems they do not interested in a solution for the time being. They assume us to lower the settings which is not really a solution to my eyes

I was running a TLOD of 100 at the time and DLSS (it can really help with heavy clouds). Still quite bad stutters during transitions, and I have a fairly high-end rig. So that's definitely one of the biggest drawbacks. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
October 8, 20223 yr If you read this statement in Discord: "REX does load the weather smoothly and I and many others have not had FPS issues. Please review our settings from our KB article at https://rexaxis.com/. If you have your settings maxed out then yes you may have to back some things down. But Weather Force is more accurate than Asobo weather" Then we will see how REX is trying to find a solution regarding FPS issues

Are you talking about live weather or preset ? Now if REX is listening, please for the love of puppies add an aggressive slider for wind/turbulence. If I wanted realism I'd never be able to fly GA in my parts. Ryzen 5 5600X - Noctua U12A, 32Gb Vengence, Sapphire Pulse 5700xt, WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD

If I wanted realism I'd never be able to fly GA in my parts. I'm referring to live wx. From what I see with REX is that there is a discrepancy between what is reported in SA/METAR (wind velocity-wise) and what actually is happening. As an example, it shows 220/15 while if I'm reading with "ambitiouspilots-shiftzstats" or any airplane that has wind direction and speed on ND and I see 8 to 10 KTS less. Not realistic at all, I guess this is how they managed to give you the impression of smoothness. The problem is still how this wx is injected in the sim. I'm with you 100% on the need of having a slider to be able to adjust this wind/turbulence reaction. Much easier than going and adjusting each airplane to the correct behavior. I don't see either REX or ASOBO fixing the issues. I hope I'm wrong. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
