October 4, 20223 yr Hello All. I have been an X-Plane 11 user on Steam. Before I buy X-Plane 12, I need to know if I can install it as a stand alone and not be bothered by the Steam version?

You won't have the Steam "overhead" and all the money will go to Laminar, so it's even better to buy it from there. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

Will the stand alone X-Plane 12 function independently of the XP11 steam version on the same computer, or will Steam interfere or even attempt to manage the newly installed XP12? Had a similar situation with FSX where it ran into an authentication error and then started up anyways, but as FSX Steam edition
October 4, 20223 yr As far as I know, any XP installation is totally independent (it doesn't even change the Windows registry), so no problems having multiple installations and no interference running them. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

I have both on same drive, same pc and fly both when time permits.
