Denver to Durango in the F117

Featured Replies

This is what I like about the sim. I don't personally care about how to fly any plane properly, not my thing but all power to those for whom it's important. What I like is being able to pop into my own private F117 and go and scare the good folks (pixels, really) of Colorado if I get the urge. So I headed out from KDEN, planning to head north briefly then fly back down over the city, and then just generally head south for a bit. Because I can.

Don't know about invisible to radar, but it's pretty hard to spot visually in most cases. I suspect there's a lot of the same reasons at play there - irregular lines and angles etc no doubt fool the eye as well as the radar.

Flew around just skimming the ground for a bit, and then looked around via LNM to see where might be a place to put down (that's my idea of a flight plan, usually). Noticed Durango about 80 miles to the west, and thought that sounded worth a visit. Sort of place that would crop up in a Dylan lyric. Airport/strip turns out to be nothing special in the sim, but hey, at least I can say I've been there now.

Actually managed to find it and turn in and put down reasonably ok without my usual "go round a couple of times because I'm coming in way too fast" thing

Landed ok and actually deployed the braking chute. But that doesn't seem to show up on the replay I was using to take these shots.

Talking of which, still haven't found an easy way of taking shots. Currently faffing around with the snipping tool which means lots of pausing the replay, setting a "take a snip in three seconds" snip going and then getting it all saved. Go back through afterwards and rename the files with proper timestamps and then convert to JPG. And of course, I'm grabbing on an HDR system so these are all a wee bit washed out by the time they're saved in the end.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
