Maybe it's only impressive to me, yet as you will have seen from your sightseeing flight, despite it being nearly a 2,000-year old city, nearly every landmark building in your pics has been built in the 37 years since your last visit. You would've only been able to see the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral, Guy's Hospital and the repurposed Tate Modern art gallery at the time. Even London City airport didn't start construction until 1986, opening in late 1987.
