Climbing Out Of PDX Today

Featured Replies

…bases at 1000. Tops at 25,000. Solid, solid opacity the entire climb. Very convincing.

Dont  believe me?  No worries, go see for yourself.

The sky awaits!

Edit:  PDX is experiencing torrential rains right now and has for most of the day so the 25K tops /solid climb out is probably pretty accurate.

The new weather in SU10 is really quite good, effects-wise anyway. I don't think I've conducted enough flights while comparing to real world weather to say for sure that it's also good current-conditions-wise, but I'm very happy with the cloud improvements.

I also finally started running the sim in VR, and I have to say, flying at sunset when the light is behind and to the side, you almost think you feel the heat of the sun on your neck. The lighting is *very* convincing. Really cool stuff.

Did Bend-OR to 5S0, crazy landing. I didn't look at the chart carefully or the sat image, was expecting a flat basic landing.

Skimmed the treetops on the way in. This is one of the most difficult landings if you are flying something that needs most of the runway.
The approach was to runway 27, pure VFR, in the rain, bad visibility. Try it, it's a pretty crazy flight.
The trees are on a hill and you have to dive at the runway the last second.

I do not believe the real landing is quite as difficult as in the game, maybe somewhat close, but the trees look much much shorter in real life.
