P3D v5 registry repair utility... or similar?

Featured Replies

Short version: Hello everyone. Is it there an utility similar to the Flight1 FS9/FSX Registry Repair tool (available at https://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library), but for P3Dv5?

Long version:

Somehow my Windows 10 started acting up, until I wasn't able to boot anymore. I had to reformat my C:\ drive (the 256 GB SSD from my specs). Before reformating, I was able to save a copy of the AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin folder (and also MSFS too).

Both P3D and MSFS are safely installed in another drive, D:\, a 1 TB SSD. As soon as I reinstalled Steam, I was able to point it to my MSFS installation (at D:\Steam) and it worked. I could even see that my settings were saved. On the other hand, when I tried starting P3D, I got an error about a failed installation. No problem, I reinstalled the client. I knew I had to reactivate P3D anyway. However, now it says I need to install both Content and Scenery. Despite pasting my saved settings, P3D still asks me for both Content and Scenery and closes after that. But they are already there on D:\!

I understand that the F1 FS9/FSX Registry Repair tool can identify an apparently missing installation of these sims. However, how can I do so for P3D, and make it aware that Content and Scenery are already installed, so that I don't have to reinstall all addons* from scratch?

*Well, I see I have no option for PMDG and QW birds. The other planes I'm using are FSL and A2A, but they are in their own folders and can be somehow saved. Same for FSUIPC, ActiveSky, Orbx and the very few sceneries and AFCADs I use.

Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. Running P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 scenery objects as an additional library, just in case), FSX-SE, MSFS2020, MSFS2024 and even FS9! Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there .

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.

The problem is missing registry entries for the content and scenery modules.  AFAIK, there is no P3D equivalent of the F1 registry repair tool for FSX.

If it were me, I'd proceed by backing up the D drive, then make a backup of the configuration file set with the tool in Lorby-SI's P3D Addon Manager.  Then install the content and scenery modules with the LM installers using the original paths, then restore the backup to the D drive and restore the config files with P3D AOM.  That should square the registry away and leave the same configuration that existed before the backup.

Lorby-SI's P3D Addon Manager

Thanks, Bob. Do you mean Lorby Prepar3D Addon Organizer?

Edit: If so, it didn't work at all: my controller assignments were all over the place. My A2A aircraft didn't show up and neither did the addon sceneries I had. I'm not sure if any of these were within the scope of Lorby P3D Addon Organizer...
