Window Live One Care and FSX

Featured Replies

Is anybody using Windows Live One Care and FSX. Does anyone know how to turn off the anti virus only and leave the firewall running. I think the anti-virus is slowing down FSX.Dave

Just right click on the green windows live care icon, after it opens go to change settings and select the anti-virus tab. Just remember to set it back when you exit FSX.Lee

I had Windows Live One Care on all of my machines and it ended up in the garbage, because it has been the worst security package that I have tried so far. Why? It slowed down my computer to an unbearable level. My HDD was constantly spinning for no reason at all and upon further investigation is was only the One Care service that used incredibly high amounts of CPU and RAM. Some games were even incompatible with One Care and would not install at all. I banned it from my all of my computers and the problems are history.I was previously quite content with One Care for XP, but One Care for Vista has been a nightmare for me.Pat

Not at all the case on my computer. I find it very low key and unobtrusive. You can schedule it manually as to when it does its maintenance so it stays out of your way. I prefer it over Norton which IS a computer hog.Lee

I got the tip from a friend to try Live OneCare which i am still using on a 90 day trail. I think i''ll purchase a license for three PCs because i have not the smallest problem with FSX and this prog. So far i see, it doesn't interfere with FSX at all. I get faster loading times compared to Avast and NOD32 (which i tested as well). The only thing what i have to complain is the Armageddon warning because i have the Windows update set to notify instead automatic... :-lol Heiko

Cheers

I have been using Live One Care for about a year. I did not install windows defender; I use Ad-Watch instead. Windows defender was a large drain on resources, but the Live Care firewall and antivirus seem fairly transparent. I have read several reviews that place it low in the "catch a virus category" ,but so far I have been bug free. Both FSX and FS9 operate as well as can be expected on my mid level machine. FSX poorly and FS9 brilliantly! :)Bob..
