UNINSTALL FSX SDK SP1A - HELP PLEASE

Featured Replies

Help anyone!!!I've had the unfortunate experience of downloading the SDK SP1A update only to have it not open when i click on it ( i had already after installed it and uninstalled it). Now when I go into control panel to uninstall i get this message:"a network error occured while attempting to read from file: C:windowsinstaller{86FE411.......msi"My cockpit is dark at night after installing 3rd party software and it's frustrating.Does anyone know how i can fix my registry issues so I can uninstall properly??Thank you for your assistance.Mitch

Why did you want to install the SDK SP1a to begin with? There is absolutely nothing of value in the SDK for the average user. Moreover, there is nothing in the SDK that will affect how FSX runs, so you're chasing the wrong rabbit if you think it's responsible for "dark cockpits" in third party aircraft. In addition, when you tried to install it the first time and it failed, it was likely because you didn't have the original SDK installed. SDK SP1a won't install at all unless you've already got the RTM SDK installed. The fact that you can't "uninstall" it now seems to indicate that it is was never actually installed at all, but only an entry in the Add/Remove Programs list was created.

That is not entirely true Bill. I know of at least one ad-on that recommends the installation of parts (simconnect). Specifically Feelthere's Legacy in an attempt to correct a CTD when importing an FS flight plan. I am assuming you have not spent a lot of time flying the Legacy. LOL. Bob..

That may be true to *help* a 3rd party debug a problem, but for normal operation an end-user should not be required to install the SDK.
