Are exemptions possible with EU Great Britain North?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Hoping someone can help.

I downloaded and installed EU Great Britain North by Orbx and i'm impressed with the coverage and overall quality.  However, i've found that some of the 3rd party mod landmarks look better than some of the models used in EU GBN.

My question is - Is there any way that you can create exclusions and remove certain landmarks in the Orbx version?  I tried to re-order my scenery library with the 3rd party mods above Orbx, but it just results in duplicate buildings - and then re-orders itself despite being saved.  Which is frustrating.

Appreciate any advice.  Cheers,

Calum

I agree Calum.  Orbx did this with London originally, replacing the already excellent Shard and a few other buildings for their inferior ones - it didn't make sense.
They have corrected London now to keep the excellent Asobo default buildings, and Sydney I believe, so hopefully they can do it with GB north.
Unfortunately, I think it will be down to Orbx to fix it.
Have you tried their forums?  They will at least say yes, no, or we will look at it.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Thanks for your response.

I have tried their forum but so far nobody has responded.  Will wait and see if they do.  With a bit of luck their will be a way to exclude certain landmarks.

In the meantime i'll continue my hunt for some other Scottish add-ons/mods.  Cheers,

Calum

I don't blame you!    It is a lovely part of the world and I have been many times.

Not sure if you are aware of flightsim.to ?  I have posted a link to Scottish scenery and other things that might interest you.

Give it about 20  or 30 seconds to load the proper page below the search box as it gathers the info (wait for the spinning circle to stop on the tab at the top - it maybe depends on your browser), as the first page you see for a while will be a kind of default one while it is searching in the background.

It is best to register properly to get the bigger files - it costs nothing, but it also informs you of updates then.  It is a great site.

Still looking for the Scotch mist weather pack though, I can't seem to find it!

Hahaha - that's coming on April Fools Day.

Thanks for that Rob - that's really helpful!

I have actually downloaded a few bits and bobs from flightsim.to recently.  I've added a few of the hospitals, the riverside museum, the falkirk wheel and the barrowlands.  Is that the only one of its kind or are there a few websites like this that make free and paid for  mods and content available to the masses?  Cheers,

Calum

Only one of its kind really Callum, but it does seem to encompass everything of any value.
There are a few others like Nexus Mods, but nowhere near as many as FS.to, and they tend to be duplicates anyway.

There will be a scenery gateway added to MSFS soon.  Like the marketplace, but just for freeware as well (maybe has to be vetted for quality), but you will find most of them will be duplicated from FS.to anyway.  In my view, FS.to is in a league of its own for the modders and releases on there.  That is where GotFriends started, and now look at them.   It is also obvious to me that FS.to is run by proper flight sim enthusiasts, so that is a good start!

PS. I do subscribe to 'Beautiful model of the world' for airports, and FTsim+ for sound packs, but this is much lower quantity of content (although excellent quality) and quite specialist.  They are both payware, but not expensive.  Good value.  Nothing Scottish though unless you count the improved sounds of a DHC-6 Twin Otter!
