Yup, Directstorage for PC has arrived. My question is, what if anything, can this tech do for sim load times.....?

Clickbait title (in the article and in this post...)

The game does not "require a 4080". The requirements are pretty clear.  Needing it for Ultra settings is a different thing, and sure, why not when it is so poorly optimized? It is not really a claim that should be made with pride but with shame.

Nice graphics, but will the gameplay be the same 1990s style stuff that we see time and again in games like this?

Well, its nice that they made a demo, so that individuals can give it a try and come to their own conclusions.

Meanwhile, for me, its almost as much a technology/engine presentation as it is anything else, which ups my personal curiosity, especially as I have a brand new 2TB Nvme and am very interested in finally seeing DirectStorage in action.

As far as optimization, having actually tried the demo before coming to conclusions, I found the developers have given users almost an overabundance of options, graphical and otherwise, of which DLSS was especially useful in taming potential framerate issues, and gave me a pretty solid 60 FPS on ultra, which was also something I was curious about, being a bit taken aback that my new 3080 RTX might already be heading for the dustbin of obsolescence.
