Adding New Planes To FS2020

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I recently got FS2020 through that  monthly MS Game pass, so its just the basic version. I was looking to add some planes to the game such as some of the newer Boeing Max and similar. Is there a website that I can download this (& others) from or is my only option to purchase the plane through the actual game?

Since I'm new any suggestions/tips on mods/planes I should be added?

Thanks

I've had the same version as you since day one. I was already paying for Game Pass, so I didn't see the need to actually buy the game. I've purchased addons from the in-game Marketplace as well as direct from the 3rd party vendors and also freeware from flightsim.to

Any add-ons you get outside of Marketplace will need to be put in the Community Folder of your MSFS install. The add-ons you get within the Marketplace are handled automatically by the sim and stored in a different location.

So you are not limited to the in-game marketplace. I do find the Marketplace to be very convenient and only find myself installing items manually only when those items are not available from the marketplace. This is especially true for freeware items.

Other third party vendors that sell quite a lot of aircraft for MSFS, include

Just Flight

Simmarket

Aerosoft

I would not recommend the 737 MAX that is on the marketplace (and sold at Simmarket).  It is widely regarded as dreadful and last time I looked, it had a rating of about 1.6 (out of 5) on the marketplace.

PMDG sell a fantastic 737NG (600, 700, 800 available), although if you're new to the hobby, they are quite complex.
