  1. For those of you with Sayintentions.ai I find the SkyOps missions very satisfying. Gives a great reason to fly, gives a little synopsis of your mission, generates realistic missions for the area and plane you are using. Sayintentions keeps track of your flight hours and moves you up their ranks and reward badges, but most importantly it's not a grinding system. You can fly whatever plane you want wherever you want and choose from different mission types. So it has a lot of freedom and variety. Really liking it so far and I have tried a lot of the career options out there. I think i like this one the best.
  2. 1. Blacksquare TBM 850 2. A2A Comanche 3. Default Cessna Caravan
  3. Aren’t all the world updates automatically streamed in now? Essentially no world updates need to be downloaded.
  4. In case anybody else was wondering. There is a key bind called “Toggle Visual Assistance Display”. It will turn on and off the the visual assistance in Career Mode flights.
  5. You have to first fly the Golden mission in each category before it will populate other jobs in that category near you FBO. When a mission category is unlocked it will show you a sneak peak of the golden mission that you must fly before all those missions are unlocked.
  6. Settings to remove those are under General; Flight Interface; then under the Cockpit Camera section. Turn off both the tooltips options
  7. Has anyone figured out how to get rid of the visual aids in career mode? I turned them off in the main settings and that works for free flight but I still get the annoying fly through boxes and taxiway arrows in career mode. I thought at first I had to complete training for them to go away but they still show up for every flight after getting my ppl and commercial
  8. It does not take off the covers/chocks when you shift c into the cockpit and I don’t know of a shortcut to do so. As far as I know if your starting cold and dark you have to preflight the exterior.
  9. I've been paying for Game Pass well before Flight Simulator came out. As such I've never really "paid" for Flight Simulator as it is part of Game Pass. I do buy products within the in-game Marketplace, so I have contributed directly to Flight Simulator in that sense. There will be no separate subscription just for Flight Simulator, it's either Game Pass which encompasses a bunch of games, or you buy the game outright.
  10. Every good tree produces good fruit. Looking at the product and the huge community around it and how it has all come together, I would say Jorg is a good tree.
  11. ATC - it is never going to get as good as Vatsim. The only thing that is better is if more people used it. I'd rather fly on Vatsim and make a radio calls on Unicom than fly with programmed ATC. One single glitch with programmed ATC and all realism is lost. Career mode as a prop for boredom because the sim is not complex? We have some pretty complex aircraft if you are willing to invest in them. But no matter how complex the aircraft and sim may be you can always enjoy a reason to fly "career mode". I am very happy they are developing that side of the sim and at least for myeslf, I am very much looking forward to it.
  12. Can anyone help me out on a separate issue. I am following the checklist exactly and I cannot get rid of the T/O Config warning when taking off. I have Fuel and Ignition to manual. Flaps at 10. Elevator trimmed, Rudder trimmed 2 clicks to the right aligned with takeoff marker, Bleed air is pulled... off the top that's all I can remember. But I'm following the built in check list and I still get the config error. Thanks for any help!
  13. So the takeaways from this article and the answered questions from the comments 1. 64 bit 2. Upgraded code based off of FSX - NOT MS Flight 3. 3rd party developers will be part of the offerings - I'm on p3dv3 and I love it, however if Dovetails simulator is a full blown 64 bit simulator based off FSX's whole world, I'm definitely in on this and will be a customer. Also real live weather has to be part of the deal, if not i'm out.
  14. I fixed my frame drops after i discovered my cpu was running too hot under heavier loads which was causing the cpu clock muliplier to drop affectively only giveing my 1500mhz or less. I bought a $50 liquid cpu cooler from corsair and went into my bios and dissabled all the power saving options under the advanced setting for the cpu. My bios (gigabyte MB) had a setting to lower the cpu speed to help maintain temperature, I disabled that as well. Disabling the power saving options affectively locked the cpu at it's full speed the entire time and doesn't let the system lower the mulplier. The cooler worked great dropping my cpu temps by about 40% (doesn't go over 50 Celsius now where as before I would get into the 70's and 80's). This fixed my low fps problem that to me appeared to develop randomely. I have an older system - I7 920 chip that is pegged at 3000mhz, a gtx 760 2gb, and 6gb of dd3 memory. I am now at 25-45fps with a2a Comanche, my traffic 6 set at 30%, ASN weather, and photoscenery from Megascenery. Sliders are either all maxed or close to max. When i'm in non photoscenery areas I have autogen set to dense and my frames are about the same as my photoscenery areas. My frames drop to 20 - 25 when i'm in the aerosoft a319 but things are still fairly fluid. Most importantly, its now consistent, no more crazy frame drops. I will admit my stock cooler I had prior needed new thermal grease as when I went to replace it I noticed that the original grease had turned to dust.
  15. Hey guys, it's my experience that any motion options in your tv's picture settings should be turned completely off. All it is doing is adding unneeded processing to the image which can cause slight distortions or slight lag especially when there is fast motion happening on the screen. I work in the A/V world and we shut off all motion affects on every panel we set up. For those with Samsung TV's the most accurate picture setting we have found to be: Picture set to STANDARD, Sharpness level turned down to somewhere around 30-35 (default is 50), Color turned down a few points to somewhere around 45-48, Auto Motion option is turned off (this is found in Picture Options). That's pretty much it, all others settings are left as default. Some Samsungs have the "NATURAL" setting which also looks good and can be used as an alternate to STANDARD. you would still want to tweak the other changes as mentioned above.
  16. I have both, I will say that your issues with p3d most likely lies with your video card. P3D relies heavily on the GPU rather than your CPU. My cpu is much older than yours however I have a GTX760 series card and P3d is pretty smooth for me with multiple add-ons and sliders set fairly high. It doesn't hurt to have both sims though. I invest most my time in P3D and it's also the only sim I buy add-ons for, but it's still fun to jump into Xplane every now and then.
  17. Looking forward to the cloud shadows. I would love to see the cockpit fall under cloud shadows and back into glaring sun on a partly cloudy day!
  18. did you go from o 720p tv to a 1080p tv? If so you may now be running p3dv2 at a higher resolution which would tax your GPU more.
  19. I work in the audio video industry and own a home theater projector which I do not use for flightsimming. I have however worked with a bunch of different set ups and if I were to use a projector for flight simiming I would probably go with the Optoma EH500. It has plenty of lumens for use during the day and is native 1080p with relatively low cost for what you get. When it comes to projectors the things you need to consider are the following: 1. what size screen are you shooting for and are there any limitations to the placement of the projector. (projectors with special lenses or wide range lenses tend to cost a lot more) 2. lighting condition. The absolute best picture in a projector set up will be with little to no ambient light in your environment. Remember your black level will only be as good as the lighting in the room allows. The darker the room the darker your black levels resulting in higher contrast. Some of the best home theater projectors tend to have lower lumens which helps maintain deep black levels and a very natural high contrast picture. However if you have a higher light level in your environment high quality home theater projectors will look terrible as they don't have the lumen output to compensate and you end up with a very low contrast picture. In the case of higher ambient light you would want to go with a projector that has a higher lumen output to compensate, this will give you more contrast in that environment. The downside to these higher lumen projectors is that when you do have a dark environment their picture tends to be washed out as they don't natively have the ability to produce deep black levels due to their brighter lamps. That Optoma EH500 I mentioned is a solid projector that has plenty of lumens for use in brighter light environments but can still look pretty descent in darker environments without being too washed out. There are other projectors like it but that's the one I have hands on experience with.
  20. I made a copy of the p3d.exe file and renamed fsx.exe --- and it worked!!
  21. No payware scenery yet, just a couple carenado planes and opus weather
  22. I got the EVGA GTX760 for $250. It comes with 2GB DDR5 and I'm very happy with it. Just below max on all the scenery settings and I'm between 25-35 FPS with scattered clouds in Los Angeles and right at 20fps in the middle of a snowstorm at Anchorage Alaska and still smooth. running 1 monitor currently at 1920x1020. I got the EVGA due to it's high ratings on review sites. It also came with 2 free games via my Amazon purchase although it wasn't advertised as doing so (they sent a separate email after purchase with instructions to redeem). Assassin's Creek Black Flag and Splinter Cell. -- Not a bad deal all in all. Also I plan on buying a second one and setting up SLI once Prepar3d supports this hopefully in v2.1
  23. GTX 470 is your issue. Rest of your rig is almost identical to mine except for that I'm on windows 8.1, your cpu is actually faster than mine. I just bought the EVGA GTX760 video card 2gb DDR5 ---- and p3dv2 is running smooth with most setting 1 notch below max! For me anyway it's a big improvement over my fsx performance. I assume it has to do with cpu power vs. gpu power.
  24. Evidence... Microsoft Flight. Although there was a lot of issues with the sim from a community standpoint, the flight engine itself was evidence as to what could be done with updated code. Flight was smooth as butter. It immediately had me thinking of what the next gen of sim could be. P3Dv2 is a step towards that. It's simply all the things I loved about FSX but with newer code that better leverages the GPU like any other current game does. Your FSX set up sounds awesome, but I can't help but think of a beautiful house that's built on a compromised foundation, meanwhile next door you have another beautiful house built on a rock solid foundation that will allow for further future growth. From the outside they are both beautiful...
