There are two options in the "Application" menu.

  • Either "Start automatically with the sim", where MSFS starts AAO using the exe.xml (but be mindful of the required admin privileges. If AAO has to be started "As Administrator" you have to start MSFS "As Administrator" too)
  • Or "Start simulator before connecting" where AAO starts MSFS.

  3. Adjust your preference.
