February 10, 20233 yr I use a Saitek X52 pro combo. I have programmed the hat switch to look around in external view. It works but when I release the hat, the view springs back to chase plane. Is this normal or is there a fix to keep the view when I let go the hat?
February 10, 20233 yr There's a fix in MSFS options. I forget what the name of the option is called. But that's how I fixed this issue. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
February 10, 20233 yr Author Good to know there is a fix. Here's hoping someone can tell me what it is...
February 10, 20233 yr In X52 Controls->Cockpit Camera, I suggest assigning "Cockpit Look Up" to "Joystick POV Up", plus all the other directions. Also useful is to assign a couple of buttons to zoom & unzoom, and a reset view button. Edit: Oh, that's internal - for External Camera try "External View Look Up" to "Joystick POV Up" plus the rest. In other words you can assign the same POV hat controls to different internal and external camera controls. Edited February 10, 20233 yr by JabbleWok
February 11, 20233 yr Author Thanks - that's exactly my settings but when I release the HAT switch, the view snaps back to chase plane. I would like it to stay put when I release the hat switch. J
February 11, 20233 yr I'm not sure why it's springing back for you - can you check you've not assigned "quickview" controls instead of "look"?
February 11, 20233 yr Author Set to: EXTERNAL VIEW LOOK UP RIGHT "JOYSTICK POV_RIGHT" and the equivalent for the other seven views. J
February 11, 20233 yr OK, try going into General Options->Camera, scroll down to Chase Camera and set POV RESET to Manual. You can also fine tune the zoom and rotation rate there.
February 13, 20233 yr Good stuff! If only I could figure out the settings for the drone camera now...
