February 20, 20233 yr Author I'm finally making some progress. I greased the last landing by doing the following: VAPP on final Reduced to VREF crossing the threshold Leveled the aircraft just before touchdown Slowly pulled power and brought the nose up about 3° She touched down gently I don't know if this is the actual technique used but it's the first time she didn't spill the drinks. Using guidance from a couple of tutorials in the previous WT iteration I used to be at VREF in the final 200 ft., then pull power crossing the threshold keeping her fairly level with only the slightest flair. I can definitely say don't do that now. Randall Rocke

I's like to print one out and finding one for this latest update is proving challenging. I haven't seen one specifically listed for the latest version, but here are a few I've found checking out the forums: Matt's Original WT Checklist Sharpe's Checklist for CJ4 Model 525C Checklist OPA Version 2 - 2019 Randall Rocke
February 20, 20233 yr How does it handle crosswind landings? I loved the WT mod and flew it quite a bit about a year ago but I remember crosswind landings giving me fits. Not matter how much rudder I get it on touchdown I was never able to keep the plane on centerline. 9800X3D | 5090 | 64GB DDR5 | LG C2 42"
February 20, 20233 yr Author The occasional "loss of control" on touchdown is an MS/ASOBO issue (not the CJ4) - they still don't have surface level crosswind affect and/or ground handling issues resolved. This affects all aircraft (not just the CJ4 and desperately needs to be addressed). Now, when it came to crosswind handling with the WT CJ4 (until touchdown) I found it to be pretty good. Yesterday I had a good challenge on the approach with a quartering/gusting crosswind from 7-19 kts and it handled it well. After touchdown I didn't have the dreaded "skating on molasses" affect and she rolled out on the centerline - I need some more flights to see if the CJ4 itself has been improved in this area. One thing to watch out for is the increased sensitivity on the controls. It remains to be seen as to whether ASOBO has made improvements on ground-level crosswind affects overall - I've already had some difficult moments with the C208B, so I would say probably not. February 20, 20233 yr Author The FS2020 ground level crosswind issues continue. Today's approach was into the mildest CW (about 10° @ 7 kts) basically hardly even a crosswind at all. As soon as the wheels touched I was thrown off the right side of the runway. I couldn't get any control at all until slowed to a few kts. The surprising thing is the manner in which this doesn't happen in all cases. Yesterday's approach and landing into a much nastier crosswind didn't cause any issues at all. I was able to crab all of the way in and the transition to side-slip worked perfectly. During the rollout aileron deflection worked normally. Randall Rocke
