Non-Functioning Virual-Fly Switcho (switches) Modules

Featured Replies

To AVSIM

I have purchased Switcho Trims, Engines (plus Battery, alternators), and Light Switches modules from Virtual-Fly located in Spain.

My Observation:

1.  All Switch modules are recognized by my computer's USB ports.

2.  Virtual-Fly's "Dashboard" (window) shows all are recognized.

3.  I checked to see if they were connected to a COM port and they were.

4.  When I select any aircraft, whether default or an add-on not one aircraft switch works.

5.  Concentrating only on the Battery and Engine start switches modules, once in a while the battery switch      and/or the ignition switch may work, however, sometimes when I select one of these

switches, they shut down P3D v5.3 completely.

6.  I am not getting any error messages.

7.  Looking on the internet, I discovered that this is not an isolated problem.  I do not believe the modules are      defective, but I do believe Virtual-Fly's software is.

8.  It seems the aircraft themselves do not recognize the switches.

What I have tried to correct the problem:

1.  Checked all USB ports for connectivity

2.  Completed a fresh installation of P3D v5.3

3.  Upgraded VF software to 1.0.27

4.  Checked Windows Control Panel to see if all Virtual-Fly hardware are recognized, they are.

None of these worked!

The Virtual-Fly's flight controls all work, Yoke, Rudder and Throttle Quadrant.  I must assign axes and keys (just to the yoke) to make them function.  Is assigning P3D procedures necessary with the Switch Modules, and if so, how do I assign them if they do not appear in P3D's axis or key assignment windows?

Thank you, Pat

P.S. I have not received any reply from Virtual-Fly; it has been over a week.

I returned mine last week. The VFHub software is defective regardless what they tell you. You cannot assign trim or switches, you must use their software.

I was shocked at the support at this price level. Poor is a word that's not enough. Something is up with this company and I don't think it's good. No more VirtualFly hardware for me.

Be prepared to reverse your card charge. You may have to.

@PMJ, I’ve moved your post to the hardware forum where you may get more responses.

There’s been a discussion about this on the MSFS forum in case it helps. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/is-anyone-successfully-using-virtual-fly-s-new-vfhub-program-with-their-flight-peripherals/458300/20

Hello, curious if this has gotten any better?  I have several pieces of VF hardware (yoke throttles and pedals) and quite enjoy them and was looking at the switcho trim panel but seeing this thread has me worried about buying now.

@regis9, I had similar issues as @newtie at the beggining with the switcho engines and trims but they updated their VFHub software and I was able to convert the devices to a joystick device and they are working perfectly now and can configure things in the game directly if I want. I also have the switcho radio and the first 2 versions had a quite a few bugs but now it has been great with the latest updates they have been releasing and they keep adding new functionalities to the device.

That’s great, I’ll have to grab that update.  Even better if it can be done directly in sim rather than through a third party program.
