March 14, 20233 yr I'm thinking about getting a new Dell XPS to replace my 11 year old Dell XPS 8500. The new configuration would contain a i7-12700K cpu, 16 gb of ram, a NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti 8gb GDDR6, LHR video card and a 1 Tb SSD. I'd add a second 1 Tb SSD. I've thought about building a machine but really don't want the hassle. Will this support MSFS adequately? Thanks in advance. Jim Driskell James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
March 14, 20233 yr My computer is like that only with the i-12600k, 16 gigs and 3060ti I was running 1080p with all the AIG, and real traffic, but now running 1440 p and with the Antonov An-225 it is using almost all the gpu memory. If you get a new Dell be sure to get some discount, I have been buying Dell for years but the newsletter 10% discount signup from Forbes.com worked last year when I bought new. Hope this helps. Also you should get the larger power supply or you won't beable to upgrade your GPU. Edited March 14, 20233 yr by bugbee
March 14, 20233 yr I would strongly recommend going to an RTX 4 series GPU. March 14, 20233 yr Author Thanks for the responses. Yes the RTX 4 series would be better but I'm trying to minimize the costs. Bugbee, your experience sounds good. Jim James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
May 6, 20233 yr Don't buy Dell. You will get better value building your own. It's not rocket science. Lots of YouTube clips that will show you how easy it really is.
