OS Wipe

Featured Replies

So I am upgrading my cpu from intel to AMD. With that comes the obligatory OS wipe and reinstall of W11. I have numerous aircraft templates set up in AAO. With AAO also getting wiped, I want to make sure I absolutely know how to back up everything I have in AAO so I can easily get up and running as easily as possible.

Can you please help me in what I need to do to back up everything with AAO?

The chapter "File Handling" in the AAO manual will tell you where everything is. Plus, AAO has a backup and restore feature built in (Tools-Menu).

You can also save all folders manually (be mindful that there are different folders for the different simulator versions of AAO)

C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\LORBY_SI\LorbyAxisAndOhsMSFS
\Documents\LorbyAxisAndOhs Files

But. When you go to a new system, Windows will assign new GUIDs all your hardware controllers. So they will not work with an old AAO configuration. Use "Hardware -> Hardware change" to map the new controller IDs to the existing configurations.

Thank you. If I run into any issues, I’ll come back here. It goes to my PC vendor on the 27th.

One follow up. Do I need to anything with this before the system is wiped? As in, do I have to know the controller ID now so I know what to map it too later or does AAO know?

No, we don't have control over that. These are unique GUIDs that Windows creates when it sees a new device. There is no inherent logic to them.

On the Hardware Change dialog you see the currently recognized controllers on the left and those that have been configured in the database on the right. when you doubleclick on a controller on the right a separate window will open with all the configs that reference this controller. That is how you determine what needs to be exchanged for what. This can be really tiresome when you have more than one controller of the same type... I went through that recently with my three Saitek TQs...

I have just one throttle and one joystick and a Streamdeck with AAO so I should be good.
