April 8, 20233 yr Hi, I'm now having as issue with P3Dv5.3. When I try to run it, the splash screen appears for about a minute, then it just crashes. This happens every time I try to run it now and I can't figure out how to fix it. I did try adding the executable to my anti-virus and malware programs, I use both bitdefender and Malewarebytes Premium together and I though maybe one of them was blocking it for some reason. I also tried reinstalling P3D itself and uninstalling some add-ons I recently installed but none of these things helped. I also checked the Windows Event Viewer to see if I could find anything there, the only thing that I found related to P3D as far as I could tell is that REX Skyforce keeps crashing though I will note that it only seems to crash when I close the sim and I tried running P3D without Skyforce open and that didn't help either. The strange thing is that I had this happen the first time about a week and a half ago and I was able to get it running again after I did some Windows 10 updates. I did the updates, restarted my pc and suddenly P3D started running again just fine. Now it's happening again, and I can't figure out why. I would greatly appreciate any help, I'm really missing flying in P3D.
April 8, 20233 yr Have you tried deleting your Prepar3D.cfg file, then starting P3D to create a new cfg? I have a question about that though, do I also have to delete the Prepar3D.cfg.txt file as welll? I'm guessing it's a backup file or something?
April 8, 20233 yr P3D main folder - delete generated files. This might help. Also I would advice you to make exception for P3D in your anti virus. Because anti virus programs affects performance. And you need all the performance you can get.

Is there any other executables I should add besides Prepar3D.exe? What do you mean by generated files? I'm not sure which files those are.
April 8, 20233 yr I figured out what you meant, I ran the Delete Generated Files program and now P3D is working again. Thank you so much for you help @PavlinS I am so happy I can fly again!

Yes, there is a program, called Delete Generated Files in P3D main folder, you just click it and then when you start sim will ask you to activate all your addons as well. Good for ya. 1 hour ago, Kalnon said: I figured out what you meant, I ran the Delete Generated Files program and now P3D is working again. That is the nuclear option. Any scenery installed the conventional way via scenery.cfg will have to be reinstalled. I hope you don’t have many. I made that mistake with v4. Never again! I made that mistake with v4. Never again! Ok I understand now, thanks for explaining that. Lucky for me I don't have a lot of scenery installed the conventional way. Most of my scenery is Orbx scenery installed via Orbx Central which has a Sync Simulator button that adds all the scenery back to the scenery.cfg file. I own all of the Global range products including Base, Vectors and all the openLC. I have Trees HD and TerraFlora 2 and I also have several of their regional sceneries like North and South California, North and South Germany and Australia V2. All of this together makes P3D look absolutely amazing. I can fly just about anywhere in the world (except Aisa, Orbx does not have an openLC Asia) and the scenery looks great. After getting the sim to work again, I went back and installed the two aircraft that I had uninstalled since they where the last two add-on's I bought and installed before P3D started crashing. They are the Aerosoft CRJ Professional and Airbus A318/319 packages. After reinstalling the planes, I tried to start up P3D again, low and behold P3D crashed again so I've narrowed the issue down, I'm almost positive it's one of these two planes that's causing the crashes on startup. I did then go and run the Delete Generated Files program again, with the two planes still installed and P3D is working again now. It has to be one of these planes causing it right?

Then at that screen select your third party aircraft. Ray (Cheshire, England). I never changed that, in fact I didn't know that could be changed. The problem that I'm having though is that it crashes before ever getting to the main P3D configuration screen. When I click to run P3D, the splash screen appears like it's loading, then it just disappears and P3D crashes without ever getting to the main screen. Edited April 8, 20233 yr by Kalnon

After reinstalling P3D and ran it the first time it did actually work, the first time anyway. When I closed it and tried to run it a second time though it went back to crashing again. At least I have it working again atm, I just hope it keeps working. If not I may have to uninstall those planes permanently. I really hope I don't have to do that, I hate wasting my hard earned money on add-ons that don't work.

According to the product descriptions I've read is that they are both P3Dv5 compatible but for some reason it seems like my P3D install does not like one or both of them for reasons I have yet to figure out.
