Forced to choose between GSX and AI

Featured Replies

So, because of the sim object issue in MSFS I appear to have to choose between GSX and AI (FSLTL). If I have them both on then airports disappear, aircraft disappear etc. It's completely ludicrous and to be honest means the sim really isn't fit for purpose.

I've even deactivated the additional items in the GSX menu (which should really leave me with jetways and a few service vehiciles!). But no, even with this selected, I'll fly to an airport to discover on arrival that it's disappeared...!

Totally ridiculous for a programme in 2023. Any ideas how we can fix this?

AMD Ryzen™ 9 9900X3D, AM5, Zen 5, 12 Core, 24 Threads, 4.4GHz, 5.5GHz Turbo
64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz Corsair Vengeance
32GB GeForce® RTX 5090 Graphics Card

The only "fix" can really be done by Asobo by removing the limit. However, a way I found to work around it is to not load any AI until the airport is spawned (I know, this will break immersion on approach).

I have found that if the airport is spawned/loaded first, followed by loading in AI, the airport objects are all loaded, and then the limit hits AI aircraft, which only limit the amount of planes that spawn, but the reduction isn't significantly noticeable.

I use PSXT for my AI, and I have had success with this workaround by not telling the program my arrival airport. I'll still see airplanes in the air and approaching airports, but it won't load the static airplanes at the gates until after I've touched down at the airport, which is beyond when the airport has loaded.

You can try to petition Asobo to remove this limit on the official MSFS forums (I'm sure topics exist), or at MSFS Dev Support

I use a low'ish number of FSTL AI (30) and have never had the problem. I also limit the native sim airport workers, ground vehicles etc. My road traffic is also off but I'm not sure if those are classed as sim objects or not.

Also in FSTL limit the spawn radius of ground aircraft. You can't see grounded aircraft more than a couple of miles away if that.
