This is the story of Lt. Col. Chuck Pitman, an active-duty Marine who essentially "stole" a CH-46 helicopter in order to assist the New Orleans Police Department stop a one-man terrorist sniper, who was responsible for murdering many policemen, firemen, paramedics and civilians over the course of seven horrible days.

He wasn't surprised when upon returning to his duty station, he was arrested and advised he'd be facing a Court Martial, the Honorable Edward Herbert, buy the then Chairman of the House Armed Services Committe advised against any such Court Martial!

He retired from the Marine Corps after having been promoted to Lt. General. He passed away on February 17, 2020 at the age of eighty-four. I believe that he was a sterling example of a real Hero! Semper Fi Marine!

It's called 'taking the initiative'.  Those are the kinds of people that make the Army, Navy, Airforce and Marine Corps work.  I've broken a few regs in my time but never got reprimanded for it because it got the job done.  NCOs do it lot more than officers do it.  But then NCOs were invented to do things officer's can't do or are not supposed to do.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.
