XP12 will not load

XP12 stopped loading a day ago - it opens to the menu page then crashes. The log file ends like this...

I immediately loaded up my vanilla copy of XP12, but exactly the same thing happened!  I decided to installed another fresh copy, but exactly the same thing happened.  I can't think of something I changed on the PC.  Everything else loads and runs as before, but not XP12!

I don't suppose somebody could offer any suggestions?  I'll log it with LR, but I'm at a loss what changed!

Seems to be a shader issue, try deleting everything in the 'shadercache' folder; "X-Plane 12\Output\shadercache" then try again

This is very early on in the load schedule for X-Plane 12.
These are the Vulkan shaders loaded on startup.
As Sethos suggests, delete the shader cache.
You might also switch off HAGS in Windows as this conflicts with the bespoke memory handling programmed into XP12. HAGS has been linked to Vulkan device errors. (Hardware Accelerated Graphics Scheduling)

There's an independent shader cache folder for each installation of the sim, so it would seem highly unlikely all three installations would be similarly corrupted.

Did a new video driver get installed (or auto-installed with a Windows update) recently?

What's in the Windows event log?

I have it working now, but I still don't understand the logic!

I always have two copies of XP12, my working one with plugins and a vanilla copy.  Working copy stops working as described above. Vanilla copy won't load, stopping at the same point.  I installed a third copy which also stopped working at the same point.  As @Bob Scott suggested, I suspected something outside XP12 was the cause. However, there were no recent Windows updates or video driver updates.

I contacted LR support who suggested removing all plugins and putting them back one by one.  I did as they asked on my working copy - XP12 loaded fine up to the point I put the SAM plugin back, then it failed to load!  Took SAM out and it loaded fine!  What really played with my head was the vanilla copy now works!!!

So, even if it makes no sense, remove all plugins and see if the sim loads.  If so replace the plugins one at a time until you find the one causing the issue.
