DC4 by Jens. Question re distance

Featured Replies

Hi,

I love flying my glass cockpit planes, and the A320 with GPS and FMC etc, but I also like to fly Jen’s DC 4 and navigate via VOR etc.  The VC is good but I do not see a way of knowing how much distance is left to the next VOR .

I know I’m flying towards it, but how far is it? Am I meant to know in the cockpit, or was that info not available to the pilots of yore,!
I can cheat using FS commander for the “tactical” view, but I choose not to.

But if I’m missing a setting of some instrument in the VC in order to inform me of the distance to the next VOR, I’d be obliged if someone could guide me how to use it.

Thanks

Well, I am assuming that these VOR stations would provide DME (Distance Measuring Equip.) information.  Take a look at this from the CalClassics forum.

Thank you for the info. I’ll have a go at the edit of the panel cfg, but does it make the VC look like the DME was “built in”, so to speak, or is it a pop up panel, do you know.?
cheers

If doing it on a 2D cockpit panel, if placed correctly, it will look like a normal gauge.  If you want it on the VC panel and you are not using FSPanel Studio, you will have to choose a gauge that you don't look at or use and insert the DME gauge name in it's place in the panel.cfg.
