KAUS and Austin, City Update III

Featured Replies

Just saw the post here about the Texas city update so nipped in to MSFS and grabbed it. Thought I'd check out Austin as I have the DDT airport for that. Just a few quick grabs

Airport is pretty quiet outside

Nicely modelled

Interiors are good too, with a combination of static and animated pixel people

and a rotating bar sign!

I had AIG up and running but there didn't seem to be anything showing up at this time

And now a quick look at the city and surrounds. This was one of the places shown in the video

To be honest, I wasn't hugely impressed with the PG here. You have to pull back a fair way for it to look really good (as with the last three shots here). Get up close and it gets a bit ugly. I've been exploring St Louis in MSFS recently and that is way better than this, and I don't know if that is even a specially modelled city.

Not saying it's bad, just that I was expecting better from a city update candidate.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Stunning shots Andy! 😉

Very nice pictures set and exploration of Austin, Texas...and vicinity, .... Andy...!!

Lived in the Austin Suburbs for several years...

I see glimpses of the Interstate 35 in your shots, that passed by my neighborhood south through Austin Downtown and then further south towards San Antonio .... of course, that highway is not as serene and peaceful as what's seen in your pictures ....🙂...extremely crowded and busy most of the day... (was a bit of a challenge for me even after my decades of driving in Chicago area...)

My last airline flight was from AUS/Austin-Bergstrom to ORD/O'Hare ....

Thanks fort reviewing this bit of Texas, here, from MSFS (and your DDT package) scenery...! Brings back some great memories of the city and of course the (perpetually) sunny and warm weather that goes with it...🙂...

Cheers Will. This really does feel like actually visiting these places (or maybe I should just get out more)

Cheers, and good to hear that from an ex-native. Exploring various places in Texas in the sim has been an eye-opener. As a Brit raised on John Wayne and Clint Eastwood I always just assumed the entire place consisted of wind-swept desert and rolling tumbleweed. Who knew it had so much green stuff in it?
