October 11, 200619 yr The UK newspapers are reporting the findings of this accident which killed 121 people last year. These are that:- the flight crew failed to note that the cabin pressurisation mode selector was in the manual position with the result that they, and the passengers, lost conciousness due lack of oxygen as the aircraft climbed to its cruising altitude.- in flight, the flight crew failed recognise the warnings and and reasons for the activation of the warnings. These included the cabin altitude warning horn and the dropping of oxygen masks. Apparently they confused the horn with a take-off configuration warning, that has the same sound, and were discussing that with the ground as the aircraft climbed out. - Boeing was also criticised for "ineffectiveness of measures taken in response to previous pressurisation incidents in the particular type of aircraft". October 11, 200619 yr The captain and first officer spoke different languages, couldn't understand each other.
October 11, 200619 yr Author Yet they didn't speak english? Interesting I didn't see that in any of the NTSB or Greek reports. I actually had to write a paper for my flight physiology class on this crash. Chris Miller
