September 4, 20232 yr Hi Dave! This has actually been going on for a year or two and I'm finally bringing it to your attention (obviously it's not that big a deal). My IFR flight is from KRDU to KMYR, I have already gotten clearance from CD and am making the request for taxi. As you can see from the attached log, i make the request for taxi: Recognized Speech: Raleigh Ground Tower Two Two Seven Whiskey Alpha Ready to Taxi 14:13:28 It seems to cut off the rest of my readback because I definitely finish the phrase but the log seems to only show part of my readback: Recognized Speech: Taxi Runway Zero Five Right via Taxiway Juliet Two Juliet Alpha Seven 14:13:48 After that I usually let Otto do the readback the next time but he isn't recognized either (I can't remember if I did that this time). I can repeat this over and over and never get the controller to recognize either me or Otto. I finally just taxi on and ignore the controller. Weird thing is, this doesn't happen every time but more often than not. The other issue is when I report in to either Departure or Center. If I haven't reached altitude yet, I always say: "Raleigh Departure, November Two Two Seven Whiskey Alpha Two Thousand Two Hundred Climbing Six Thousand" When I read the green text, it always looks right but only about half the time, the controller understands what I say. The same thing happens when I report in to Center once reaching altitude: Recognized Speech: Washington Center Tower Two Two Seven Whiskey Alpha Level At Six Thousand 14:55:16 InterruptAudio in SayPhrase: Two Two Seven Whiskey Alpha good afternoon . This is Washington Center go ahead. 09/04/2023 14:55:17 I'm guessing it has something to do with this "InterruptAudio in SayPhrase" but it doesn't make sense why it does that. Like I said, it doesn't happen every time and when the say "Go ahead", I know they didn't recognize me so I just ignore them and life goes on. It would be nice to see this fixed but I wish I understood what was happening and could do something different. I hate to veer too far from accepted atc speed though. Like I said, this is not a big deal, just wanted to bring it to your attention. September 4, 20232 yr Commercial Member Thanks Mark. I'm currently working on some major changes to the recognition portion of the program. After that is a little further along, it will be released in beta. In the meantime, phrases being cut off either at the beginning or end has happened to me when I start speaking before the PTT button has been pressed long enough to start recognition or I release it a fraction of a second too early and the end gets clipped. Hopefully the new recognition code, once fully debugged, will do a little better at recognizing. Dave
September 6, 20232 yr Author Thanks Dave You've trained me well to pause before speaking and hold the mic a few seconds afterward too so I don't think that is part of this problem. Maybe there is some sort of lag issue though. It's been going on for a very long time is why I brought it up. Again, not a big deal but P2A is so good, it's a shame for this not to get addressed at some point. Thanks for the great support! September 6, 20232 yr Commercial Member Mark, Beta 7 was just released and hopefully will fix the recognition issues. Dave

September 7, 20232 yr Author I believe you've done it Dave! Just finished a two hour flight with at least a dozen handoffs. Zero misunderstandings! I was cruising at 10k and reported in with "Level at ten thousand" and controller didn't recognize that so I changed to "level at flight level one zero zero" and used that throughout with no problem which is what I should be saying anyway. I tried several times to get the controller to do the loop repeat thing with taxi instructions but he got it right every time. Thank you for such quick response! -mark X-Plane 12, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Nvidia RTX 5090, Asus ROG Strix X870E-E mb, 96GB DDR5 (6800MHz), 4TB SSD, Triple Monitor 1440p, Windows 11, FliteSim CLS-120 Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo, TurtleBeach VelocityOne Pedals, RealSimGear G1000 Suite, PropWash Radio Stack, Tobii Tracker 5, Asus Xonar U5 sound card.
September 13, 20232 yr Author Well, sorry to report that Beta 7C is worse than ever. I'm getting the infinite loop on taxi instructions EVERYTIME now and no matter what I do, I can't get ARTCC to recognize my report in. I've tried: TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED CLIMBING EIGHT THOUSAND LEVEL EIGHT THOUSAND LEVEL AT EIGHT THOUSAND Even tried the old WW2 speak that used to work: WITH YOU AT EIGHT THOUSAND Finally just said TALLY HO Which I don't really even know what that means but the controller liked that. I gave up after than. Frustrating All other communication works fine (ils approach, tower comm, ground comm, etc) Log: https://snomhf.exofire.net/data/p2a/KRDU-KCLT.zip Edited September 13, 20232 yr by snomhf X-Plane 12, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Nvidia RTX 5090, Asus ROG Strix X870E-E mb, 96GB DDR5 (6800MHz), 4TB SSD, Triple Monitor 1440p, Windows 11, FliteSim CLS-120 Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo, TurtleBeach VelocityOne Pedals, RealSimGear G1000 Suite, PropWash Radio Stack, Tobii Tracker 5, Asus Xonar U5 sound card.
