V3.3.0 Parking of live departing aircraft

I like the new pushback procedures introduced in v3.3.0 which can be seen when the live departing aircraft spawns at the gate. I have noticed, however, that some live departing aircraft now spawn during or after the pushback rather than at the gate which breaks the immersion somewhat. Also, on some occasions, a parked static aircraft can be left at the gate as well which breaks the immersion even more. In v3.3.0 there seems to be a change in the logic for parking live departing aircraft. From my observations less live departing aircraft are parked at the gates for the start of the flight than was the case previously.

For the moment I have reverted to v3.2.0 where the issue of parking live departing aircraft is not present, i.e. almost all live departing aircraft are parked at the gates with a subsequent full pushback.

I hope that this issue can be fixed in a future update as I am enjoying the new pushback behaviour.

I know but some of these aircraft were parked at the gate wrongly. They were in fact set back in time .... In real time the airports heading was already pointing in the taxing direction (according to the RT data)... Those wrongly parked aircraft also pushed back almost immediately, rushing behind their live counterpart, not stopping for the tow truck to detach,  sometimes even crossing terminal buildings....  This is all caused by captains switching there transponders on rather late, or the data is just missing from the RT source. 

I also see still lots of aircraft parked at the gate, and stay there a while before they push back. Those aircraft have the heading aligned with the gate, so I can park them .

Note that it depends on the airport too. The quality of the ads-b data varies over airports. At EGLL for instance you do not see this that much.

I notice less visibility of live parked aircraft with version 3.3.0 as well.

Also at airports with great ADS-B Data coverage like LSZH or EIDW.

That's good. 

For arriving aircraft nothing has changed, they will park.

Yep, me too. I have seen this at EGCC, EGPH, and EGNX as well as the two you mention (they all have good ADS-B coverage).

I hope the logic for parking live departing aircraft can be revisited. The combination of parking all live departing aircraft at the correct gates with the new pushback logic will be a win win for me.

I'll widen the angle from +/- 45 to +/- 90 degrees. With the angle I mean the difference between the trueheading of the live aircraft and the heading of the gate. If it is more than 90 degrees, the live aircraft is not parked and already pushing back..., than I will not place it at the gate as if it is parked.

Do note that not all sources that RT is using provide the true heading of a live aircraft. Hence, for those the old parking procedure remains in place.

Hi kiek,

just downloaded version 3.4.0. and noticed that in generell less aircraft are being spawned and parked.

I comepared the same airports (EIDW and LSZH) at the same time with version 3.0.0 and 3.4.0.

With version 3.0.0. I get full parking as wished to the maximum, but with version 3.4.0 at the same time it`s not going up to the maximum.

I have some logtexts here as well.

just downloaded version 3.4.0. and noticed that in generell less aircraft are being spawned and parked.

I comepared the same airports (EIDW and LSZH) at the same time with version 3.0.0 and 3.4.0.

With version 3.0.0. I get full parking as wished to the maximum, but with version 3.4.0 at the same time it`s not going up to the maximum.

It is good to try another airport too. One airport, does not say much. And yes, you will see less aircraft parked (by design), because they were wrongly parked  before 3.3.0

May I ask, what it means they were wrongly parked before? Isn`t the traffic and parking file coming from real movements?

Zurich and Dublin were actually pretty accurate when it comes to static parked planes, even in version 3.0.0.

I have to repeat myself.... I already wrote that in this thread a few posts earlier:

" I know but some of these aircraft were parked at the gate wrongly. They were in fact set back in time .... In real time the airports heading was already pointing in the taxing direction (according to the RT data)... Those wrongly parked aircraft also pushed back almost immediately, rushing behind their live counterpart, not stopping for the tow truck to detach,  sometimes even crossing terminal buildings....  This is all caused by captains switching there transponders on rather late, or the data is just missing from the RT source. 

I also see still lots of aircraft parked at the gate, and stay there a while before they push back. Those aircraft have the heading aligned with the gate, so I can park them.

Note that it depends on the airport too. The quality of the ads-b data varies over airports. At EGLL for instance you do not see this that much."

 

In Summary. If the captain switches the ads-b tranmitter on while he is preparing his flight in the cockpit, all goes well. However, if he does that while the aircraft is already rolling ...

Hi Nico,

When aircraft spawn at the start of the pushback rather than on the gate, they move out from the gate facing the wrong way, i.e. pointing away from the gate as if taxiing away from the gate rather than being pushed. Is there any way you can influence this and change the orientation of the aircraft so that in these cases the aircraft pushes back correctly orientated?

Hi Nico,

Whilst I understand the desire to not have aircraft parked wrongly as you describe, the effect of your change in the live departing aircraft logic is that some actual aircraft are now no longer parked at the gate at the start of the flight. The aircraft in question spawn during or after the pushback. For me this is a backward step and can break the immersion somewhat. I would rather see the very occasional wrong live aircraft parked at the gate than see aircraft spawning during or after the pushback. I hope you can revisit this change in the logic and find a improved solution.

Oh God, thank you for this.

I was actually still using version 3.0.0 because it gave me more accurate data and appearance of live parked aircraft at the gates for some reason.

The later versions after the change missed out a lot of traffic, which could actually be seen in flightradar24 and therefore in 3.0.0 but somehow not in the later versions.

Will definitely check out, if version 3.7.1. matches in terms of live parked aircraft to what I was able to see in version 3.0.0.
